How can Virtual Security Guard benefit my business?

Arrow Icon

You can add Virtual Security Guard5 to your compatible Ring Protect subscription for live monitoring of motion events on your enrolled cameras. When your system is in Home or Away Mode and a person is detected on an enrolled camera, Guards immediately live monitor the situation and take action if needed. Guards can help provide real-time deterrence using your camera’s speaker and siren, and will immediately contact emergency dispatch for police, fire and medical services in the event of an emergency or call you in the event of suspicious activity.

Your business will need a Ring Alarm, a compatible camera, a compatible Ring Protect subscription and be enrolled in Professional Monitoring to use Virtual Security Guard.

What are the requirements to have Virtual Security Guard to protect my business?

Arrow Icon

Your business will need a Ring Alarm, a compatible camera, a compatible Ring Protect subscription and be enrolled in Professional Monitoring to enroll in Virtual Security Guard.5 Supported ONVIF-compatible cameras can also be enrolled. Please visit our Help Center for more information.6

What's the difference between Virtual Security Guard, Ring Protect Pro and Professional Monitoring?

Arrow Icon

Ring Protect Pro and Ring Protect Plus (1st Gen) are subscription services that allow you to review, share, and save videos captured by your Ring device and opt-in to Alarm Professional Monitoring.

Alarm Professional monitoring provides you 24/7 on-demand police, fire, or medical support when break-ins or any other security threat is detected by your Ring Alarm sensors at your business.

Virtual Security Guard5 is a subscription service that can be added to your Ring Protect Pro Plan and provides live monitoring of camera motion events for the compatible, enrolled cameras at your business.

While Alarm Professional Monitoring provides monitoring for your Ring Alarm sensors, Virtual Security Guard allows Rapid Response agents to actually see what's happening on your cameras and take action if needed. When Virtual Security Guard is active and a person is detected, Rapid Response agents will monitor and take action on that event. If a Ring Alarm sensor is triggered while Virtual Security Guard is active, the Alarm monitoring agent will follow the response settings you've customized in your Professional Monitoring Settings.

To enroll in Virtual Security Guard, you need a compatible Ring Protect subscription that allows you to enroll in Alarm Professional Monitoring, which is a requirement for operating the service.

Can Ring devices be used both inside and outside my business?

Arrow Icon

Yes! Our Video Doorbells, Security Cameras and Alarm products can be used both inside and outside your business. Remember, our Terms of Service and certain jurisdictions require that you provide notice of the use of cameras at your property. When you install your Ring products, ensure that you post the included Ring Security Sticker in a highly visible location on the property (for example, on the front window or entry door).

Can I disable audio recording for my Ring cameras?

Arrow Icon

Yes! You can disable audio streaming and recording for both live events and video recording for any Ring camera through the Ring App. For more details on the Audio On/Off toggle feature, please visit our Ring Business Help Center.

Do Ring Cameras provide 24/7 video recording?

Arrow Icon

How does Alarm Professional Monitoring3 work?

Arrow Icon

When you subscribe to Ring Protect Pro and enroll in Alarm Professional Monitoring, the monitoring center will be alerted when your Ring Alarm detects certain security issues. We’ll give you a call from a dedicated support line to see if you need an emergency response requested. If you give the go-ahead or can’t answer, the team will request for dispatch emergency responders like the police department or emergency medical services*. With Alarm Professional Monitoring, you can also immediately request these emergency services from your Ring Alarm Keypad or Ring Panic Button (Panic Button sold separately). Alarm Professional Monitoring is only available for Ring Alarm and select third party “Works with Ring”-certified devices; other Ring devices, such as Video Doorbells and Security Cameras, are not professionally monitored unless also enrolled in Virtual Security Guard.5
