24/7 Recording for Select Wired Cameras

Meet 24/7 Recording — a new feature now available for select Ring Security Cameras. With 24/7 Recording, keep close to what matters most by continuously recording audio and video, day and night — not just when motion occurs.

This feature requires a Ring Home Premium subscription.

Eligible security cameras* (when hardwired or plugged in) include:

• Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen)
• Stick Up Cam Pro
• Indoor Cam (2nd Gen)
• Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam

*Ring Doorbells are not currently eligible to access 24/7 Recording.

24/7 Recording is limited to 10 devices at one location. Recordings are temporarily stored in the cloud, up to 14 days. To store your videos for longer than 14 days, download them to local storage. This feature is dependent upon network connectivity and other factors.

Important information for 24/7 Recording (Beta) customers

Ring customers who had access to and turned on 24/7 Recording (Beta) before November 4th, 2024 will have access to this Ring Home Premium feature until December 12th, 2024. If you are not subscribed to a Ring Home Premium plan or have a Ring Home Premium plan trial by Dec. 12th, your Ring Cameras will revert back to their previous settings and you’ll no longer have access to 24/7 Recording and any videos you recorded using the feature. If you chose not to subscribe to a Ring Home Premium plan or Premium plan trial, we recommend downloading any videos you recorded using 24/7 Recording (Beta) before Dec. 12th to ensure you can view them in the future.

Getting ready to use 24/7 Recording

Check your local laws.

Before turning on 24/7 Recording, check the laws in your local jurisdiction to see if using this feature to record audio and/or video may be restricted or prohibited.

More internet use.

Like all videos captured by Ring Cameras, 24/7 Recording continuous videos are stored in the cloud, and may cause your Ring device to use more of your internet bandwidth daily. Additional data rates and service fees may apply. Check your plan with your internet service provider to learn more.

Keep your Ring device plugged in.

24/7 Recording can only be turned on if your Ring Camera is plugged in to continuous power. Ensure your Ring Camera stays plugged in to optimize your device’s performance while using 24/7 Recording.

The blue light will remain on.

With 24/7 Recording turned on, the blue indicator light on your Ring camera will stay on without interruption because your camera is recording continuously.

24/7 Recording will not work with other select features turned on.

At this time, 24/7 Recording is not compatible with the following features. Turn these features off before using 24/7 Recording:

• Storing video locally on Ring Edge microSD card
• End-to-End Encryption
• Virtual Security Guard
  • Virtual Security Guard not supported in 24/7 Recording. If 24/7 Recording is turned on for select Ring security cameras, you cannot use

    Virtual Security Guard

    . Switch to motion-based recording to use with Virtual Security Guard.

Turning on 24/7 Recording in the Ring app

If you have a Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam, Indoor Cam (2nd Gen), Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen), and/or Stick Up Cam Pro, you must first turn on 24/7 Recording in the Ring app using the following steps before you will have access to the feature both in-app and on Ring.com.

In the Ring app:

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
2. Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.
3. Tap

   Device Settings

4. Tap

   Video Settings.

   Recording Mode

6. Select

   24/7 Recording

7. Toggle on or off

Getting to know the 24/7 Recording Video Timeline

With 24/7 Recording turned on, learn how to use its dynamic Timeline for Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam, Indoor Cam (2nd Gen), Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen), and/or Stick Up Cam Pro to zoom in and out of the timeline with Timescale, see Events as markers, and save video for later from the Ring app or on Ring.com.

Pinch to zoom in or out on the timeline with Timescale (available only in the Ring app).

Browse through your continuous recorded video minute by minute, or hour by hour to see events with precise detail.

• Pinch and expand the timeline on screen to zoom in.
• Pinch and contract the timeline on screen to zoom out.
• Slide side-to-side to move the timeline toward the present or past.

See your Events as markers on the timeline.

While recording continuously, all types of Events will be highlighted on your Timeline with markers including: Motion and Person Events, Live View Started Events, and Linked Device Events. Adjust your Motion Settings to make sure you’re getting the Motion Alerts you want.

Store your videos to review later.

With 24/7 Recording, you can use 24/7 Video Storage Time to save your videos for up to 14 days. Motion Events and all other Event types will be saved according to your existing Event Video Storage Time setting for your Ring device, and can be stored for 60 days (default) up to 180 days.

Turning video recording on and off

Quickly turn 24/7 Recording on or off in the Ring app to stop continuous video recording. When 24/7 Recording is turned off, Motion Events and video won’t be recorded continuously. To turn off audio recording, update the settings for your Ring device from the Ring app.

In the Ring app:

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
2. Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.
3. Deselect the camera icon to turn off Recording.
4. Reselect the camera icon to turn it back on.

On and off states

• Camera Icon On:

  Your device will record 24/7 Recording and Motion Events continuously.
• Camera Icon Off:

  Your device will only record when you turn on Live View, or if you’ve set up any

  Linked Events

Changing your Recording Mode to Motion-Based Recordings

You can turn off 24/7 Recording any time by switching back to the previous Motion-Based Recording.

In the Ring app:

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
2. Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.
3. Tap your device's

   Settings

   .
4. Tap the

   Device Settings

   tile.
5. Tap

   Video Settings.
6. Tap

   Recording Mode

7. Select

   Motion-Based Recording

With Motion-Based Recording turned on, continuous video recording with 24/7 Recording will be turned off, and all video recorded with 24/7 Recording will be hidden from the Timeline. To view video previously recorded with 24/7 Recording, turn the feature back on.

When Motion-Based Recording is turned on, all Event types will be recorded as single events. If previously turned on, Snapshot Capture will automatically be turned back on.

Using 24/7 Recording with Home and Away Modes

If you’ve set up Disarmed, Home and Away Modes for your Ring device, the 24/7 Recording feature will follow the recording preferences you set for each Mode to better fit your needs.

For example, if you’ve set your Ring device to record video in Home and Away Modes, but not in Disarmed Mode, recording will pause while in Disarmed Mode and motion will not be detected and continuous recording will not occur.

Downloading video with 24/7 Recording

From your 24/7 Recording Timeline, select any point in time to download a video up to 10 minutes long.

In the Ring app:

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
2. Tap the camera preview for device you want to access.
   1. If you have

      Tap Camera Preview for Live View

      turned on, tap

      End Live

      to close.
3. Slide the timeline to where you want the video to start.
4. Tap

   More

   (•••).
5. Tap

   Download

   .
6. Use the slider to create your video start and end point. As you move the slider, you’ll see a video preview.
7. When finished, tap

   Continue

   .
8. Your video will be saved to your mobile device.

On Ring.com:

1. Open 24/7 Timeline.
2. Click

   Manage

   .
3. Select the time frame you would like to download (1 minute or 10 minutes).
4. Click

   Share

   .

Sharing video with 24/7 Recording

You can select a starting point in your video timeline and share a video up to 10 minutes in length.

In the Ring app:

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
2. Tap the camera preview for device you want to access.
   1. If you have

      Tap Camera Preview for Live View

      turned on, tap

      End Live

      to close.
3. Slide the timeline to where you want the video to start.
4. Tap

   Share

   .
5. Use the slider to create your video start and end point. As you move the slider, you’ll see a video preview.
6. When finished, tap

   Continue

   .
7. Choose where you wish to share your video.
8. A share link will then be generated for you.

On Ring.com:

• Open 24/7 Timeline.
• Click

  Manage

  .
• Select the time frame you would like to download (1 minute or 10 minutes).
• Click

  Share

  .

Deleting video with 24/7 Recording

Delete select Events — or delete video in 15 minute, 1 hour, or 24 hour segments from continuous recorded video or any other video in your Timeline.

In the Ring app:

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
2. Tap the camera preview for device you want to access.
   1. If you have

      Tap Camera Preview for Live View

      turned on, tap

      End Live

      to close.
3. Select the moment in the Timeline you want to start deleting.
4. Tap

   More

   (•••).
5. Tap

   Delete

   .
6. Choose

   Selected Event for 1 minute, 15 minutes

   ,

   1 hour

   , or

   Entire day

   .
7. Tap the

   Delete

   button to confirm.

When the video is deleted, you’ll notice a gap in the timeline.

On Ring.com:

1. Open 24/7 Timeline
2. Click

   Manage

3. Choose

   Selected Event

   Entire day
4. Click

   Delete

Troubleshooting 24/7 Recording

Are you seeing gaps in your continuous video recording or missing Motion Events? Here are a few things to try:

Uninstall and re-download the Ring app.

Get the latest version of the Ring app to ensure you have access to new features and other in-app tools. To get started, choose your mobile device's operating system below:

• Android
• iOS
• Fire OS

Ensure you have a strong wifi connection.

24/7 Recording requires a stable internet connection as it records, uploads and saves continuous video to your Ring account. Learn more about how you can improve signal strength and test your wifi connection.

Adjust your Motion Settings.

If you’re seeing inconsistent activity or some Motion Events are not highlighted on your Timeline, check your motion settings for Smart Alerts, Sensitivity, and Motion Zones to ensure you’re getting the Motion Alerts you want.

Make sure your Ring device is plugged in to power.

24/7 Recording cannot be turned on while your Ring Camera is using battery or solar power.

If unplugged and on battery power, the 24/7 Recording feature will still record if previously turned on, but it may drain your battery faster.

Check if your Recording Mode is set to 24/7 Recording.

From the main app dashboard, tap more (•••) on your Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam, Indoor Cam (2nd Gen), Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen), and/or Stick Up Cam Pro camera preview. Tap Settings » Video Settings » Recording Mode. Make sure to select 24/7 Recording.

Reboot your Ring device.

If the above steps have not been successful and your Ring device is connected to Wi-Fi, try rebooting your Ring device in the Ring app.

When 24/7 Recording is turned on, certain features will turn off.

Pre-Roll and Snapshot Capture will automatically be turned off when 24/7 Recording is turned on as they're replaced by continuous video recording.
