What is Amazon Sidewalk?
Amazon Sidewalk is a privacy-focused wireless community network that helps devices work better. Operated by Amazon at no charge to customers, Sidewalk can help simplify new device setup, extend the low-bandwidth working range of devices, help find lost items, and help devices stay online even if they are outside the range of their home Wi-Fi. How does Amazon Sidewalk work?
Sidewalk creates a community network that enhances the connectivity and functionality of your devices beyond your home Wi-Fi's range. Compatible Amazon devices, such as Echo speakers and Ring cameras, serve as "Sidewalk Bridges," forming the backbone of this network. This collaborative system helps eligible devices stay connected as you move around your neighborhood. The beauty of Sidewalk is that it requires no additional hardware purchases – any Sidewalk-enabled device you own will automatically work when within range of a Sidewalk Bridge in your community, creating a more robust and expansive network for everyone.1
