What is the Victor® Smart Mouse Trap?
The Victor® Smart Mouse Trap consists of a Smart Base and a Power-Kill Mouse Trap. The Smart Base is a small, battery-powered sensor that clips onto the compatible Victor® Power-Kill Mouse Trap. When the trap goes off, it sends a push notification to your phone through the Ring app.
Do I need a Ring subscription to use this?
No. Victor® Smart Traps are fully functional after purchase and require no subscription. Just download the free Ring app and create an account.
Do I need other Ring devices, like a camera or doorbell?
No. You just need the Victor® Smart Mouse Trap and the free Ring app. The Smart Base connects via Amazon Sidewalk, so it works even where your home Wi-Fi does not reach.
How do I set it up?
- 1. Download the Ring app (free on iOS and Android).
- 2. Scan the QR code on the Smart Base using your phone's camera. Pair it with your Ring app via Bluetooth.
- 3. Clip the Smart Base onto your compatible Victor® Power-Kill Trap.
- 4. Place the trap wherever you need it: attic, basement, garage, crawl space, etc.
How will I know when a trap goes off?
You will get a push notification on your phone through the Ring app. You can also check the app at any time to view activity history for each trap.
Will this work in my basement or attic where Wi-Fi is spotty?
Yes. The Smart Base connects via Amazon Sidewalk, which has a range of up to half a mile. It also has a built-in connectivity test button so you can confirm signal strength before placing the trap. Learn more about Amazon Sidewalk coverage in your area.
Will the Smart Base work with Victor® traps I already own?
Only with traps labeled "Use with Smart Base" on the product carton. If your existing traps do not have that label, they are not compatible. The Victor® Smart Base is compatible with Victor® Power-Kill Mouse Traps, Victor® Power-Kill Rat Traps, and Victor® Clean-Catch Mouse Traps. Just make sure that the product box is labeled as “Use with Smart Base”. Any Victor® Power-Kill Traps without that label will not be compatible with the Victor® Smart Base.
Can I purchase the Victor® Smart Base on its own?
No. The Victor® Smart Base is not currently available for purchase on its own. You need to purchase one of the Victor® Smart Mouse or Rat Traps that include the base. Compatible traps are available to purchase on their own so the base can be reused.

Why is my Victor® Smart Trap sending alerts without a catch?
If you are getting alerts but have no rodent catch, there is an explanation. The sensor reports every interaction and each alert tells you something:
- Trap went off, no catch: The rodent got away. A rodent likely triggered it without getting caught. Re-bait (making sure to use just a small dab of bait), reset the trap, and reposition slightly.
- Bait gone, no catch: Rodents are grazing. Too much bait allows the rodents to feed without triggering the trap. Go smaller. A pea-sized amount of bait is plenty.
- No activity at all: The trap is in the wrong location. Rodents travel along walls. Move the trap against one on a route rodents are known to travel.
- Not taking the bait: They’re cautious. Leave the trap baited but unset for a few days to let rodents acclimate.
