Better half was not at all enthusiastic about this however now she is a big fan. Winter Update at bottom.

Likes:
1. Solar. In our set up, works fabulous. No batteries nor low voltage complexity. Enables flexibility of placement.
2. Schedule: dusk to 11pm schedule which ramps up... to full on motion. Similar for 6:am to sunrise. Minimizes light pollution, maximizes safety on our path.
3. Smarts: We have it so only start and end motions units trip the group. In our placement of 4 following a winding path, we’re pretty sure the middle units motions are…. Deer. How did we discover this? See below.
4. Ring integration. In our set up, looking at device history, when only the middle motion sensors trip we worked out it was deer traversing the path. Visitors walking the path tripped the first and last sensors.
5. Expandability. Sure enough we ordered two solar stair lights and a solar wall light. And now an additional 2 solar path lights, and two light bulbs.
6. Flexibility. Endless possibilities.
7. Range: have lights 80 feet apart with 3 stories of elevation difference.
BONUS: replaceable batteries. Replace when the batteries eventually fail.

Dislikes
1. Scanning the QR code on an iPhone. Needs to be snappier!
2. How about a map? We have a Door Bell Plus, the radar view is nice. Howabout awareness (manual or automated) of all Ring devices?
3. The Bridge. Yes, another device to plug in. Since we were in try it out mode, we really didn’t want another Echo / Show device. An upgrade promo for Ring Light buyer perhaps?
4. Unnecessary Charging cables. So far every light has come with one. Make it optional.
5. Future Proof: will this ve replaced by Matter / Thread?

Summary
Completely recommend if you have right solar aspects.
We are now up to 9 Solar Path lights, 1 Solar Wall Light, 3 Solar Step lights, and 3 Outdoor plugs. We use one step light to light up our street number. If you have dogs, the motion sensors are great to gauge early if you have visitors.

Winter Update: we've had 30+ CM of snow, and have seen -10C averaging 0C since daylight saving ended. As the leaves sell, some lights are getting more sunlight now than summer.
1. To Maximize battery life, we took some lights off Night schedule, and have them only on motion
2. For the lights with less solar, we seem to be charging at most once every two weeks. Read more

Update: The remaining four died (8/8 DEAD) shortly after I wrote this review. Steer clear of these things.

Background: I bought eight of these over about a six month period, starting in October of 2020 (some from Amazon, and some from Home Depot - All new). Installation was surrounding ou...r swimming pool deck. I live just outside of Phoenix, AZ.

Installation: Setup via the Ring app, and setting up routines via the Alexa app are very straightforward. Once that was done the physical install was simple. Hammer in the spike, twist on the light, and you're done. Ensuring the light was level was the only tweaking I had to do.

Function: The lights worked great for about 2-3 months. After that, they started failing one by one. At this time, FOUR OUT OF THE EIGHT LIGHTS HAVE FAILED. I noticed some weren't coming on, so I checked the app. The showed as "Disconnected". I brought the lights in the house and tried resetting the lights. I was still not able to connect to the lights. I connected the light to USB power and was now able to connect the light. I tried resetting it while connected to power, tried removing the light from the app and adding again, and no matter what I did, the lights would not connect when I removed them from USB power (that was even after leaving them to charge over night - I did this with all four that failed as well). I have ZERO faith that the remaining four will last much longer, especially when the four that have failed couldn't make it through an Arizona spring (good luck with the upcoming summer heat). Aren't solar lights supposed to be in the sun?

Customer Support: I would give a negative start for this if I could. Absolutely awful experience. I call when the first two failed, and was told that they would replace them under warranty. I will say that instead of actually listening to the problem and understanding the troubleshooting process that was done, they were looking to replace them instead of work through the actual issue. Either way, they shipped the replacements and sent me UPS tags to return the broken lights. A few days later I received the package only to see they sent the wrong lights (they sent non-solar versions). I called them to remedy the issue and was told I would be contacted by the shipping department to remedy the problem in the coming days. Didn't receive that call or a follow up email. I started researching the issue online and found that other path light owners had talked about the same issue on Ring's user forum. It turns out that they had tracked it down to bad batteries, so I took a battery out of one of my path lights that was still functioning, and the light that wasn't connecting connected. Some of the people said that Ring had sent them replacement batteries to fix the problem. Intent on fixing the whole issue (two more path lights have now failed at this point), I called Ring for a third time. I mentioned what I had read on their forum and asked about replacement batteries, to which I was told "Ring does not supply replacement batteries for path lights via warranty or for sale". Wonderful.......... Well, at this point I just want a shipping label to send back the wrong lights they sent and to get the correct version of the four that failed. I imagine I will have to go back through this when the next four fail.

Verdict: I have too many Amazon devices to count and have my home decked out in Ring cameras and equipment as well. After this, I won't be purchasing any more ring products. The products failed after a few months and their customer service is atrocious. Not exactly what I would expect out of such an established company. I have decided to look online for third party 3.7v 18650 batteries to replace them as they fail, and when they die for good, they will go in the trash. Read more

Great idea but....

Pros:
* Great integration with ring doorbell.
* Very Bright and adjustable.
* Motion Sensor that you can intergrate/connect to activate your Ring Video Doorbell sooner.
* Solar powered with rechargeable batteries.

Cons:
* Built-in solar panels aren't sufficient en...ough to keep rechargeable batteries fully charged.
* Rechargeable Batteries drain quickly due to overactivity or not enough sun or previous point made about solar panels not being sufficient enough.
* You will find yourself removing the pathlights to recharge the batteries with micro usb indoors more often than you like.
* Ring does not sell replacement batteries for their own product. This unit will require rechargeable high capacity battery type-18650, 3.7v, 3200mah. Made in china.

Things to Note: In my quest to find replacement batteries with exact specs or higher mah capacity for longer life has been a futile effort! Turns out that there are many fakes, all made in china, and the capacity advertised are not anywhere near or don't exist for this specific sized battery ie...18650. So buyer beware. Even the 3200mah battery that comes with ring unit when tested, was actually much less than whats advertised/printed on the lable (2800-2998mah. Not true 3200mah). In my search thus far, Amazon seems to allow a lot of these fakes to pass and be sold on their site. So it can get quite expensive buying batteries thinking you're buying at the capacity it advertises only to find its fake. Some of these batteries run anywhere from $15 to almoat $30 per battery. This is cost to much for anyone to buy just for trial and error because non of these companies are honest about what they sell and amazon by allowing them to sell on their platform are kinda signing off on that by allowing them to sell here. So buyer beware! Do your research! I've yet to find any replacement with actual specs as advertised. Starting to think they don't exist and not enough information from reliable sources to verify what is the highest capacity a 18650 3.7 battery can actually hold?! Many out there without the button which turns out its just a chip underneath added by manufacturers to non-button top versions so it protects your battery from overcharge. Its an overcharge protection feature if you buy an 18650 with button top. Lithiums are known to explode so be careful with batteries without charge protection feature.

If you do go solar and need higher capacity batteries than the ring that actually fit the unit, I found these to be the best so far and its sold on amazon. These are 3600mah but again, its not a true 3600mah but it did fair much higher capacity than the ring version.
SNSYIY 3.7V Button Top Batteries USB Rechargeable Battery 3600mAh.
I tried these as per suggested from a forum I found when researching replacement batteries and the SNSYIY came up on top as the only one that faired well for the Ring Solar Path lights and so far so good. They are lasting a longer. Only had a week with them and so far no need to recharge like the ring version. I'll update as I learn more.

My Suggestion: A Hardwired version may be your best option if you want hassle free operating. Just set it and forget it with hardwire. Otherwise, the solar version will be a bit of a nightmare to maintain fully charged. Read more
