I converted my garage door to a high lift to take advantage of my 12' ceilings and a car lift. Getting the traditional pull-bar opener out of the way was key to that. Once I got my tracks and door reconfigured, this opener install was a piece of cake. Easier to install than the traditional type of o...pener though there are more wire hookups to deal with due to the cable tension sensor and the auto lock device.
I was replacing a Liftmaster opener and hoped to reuse the bottom door sensors, but they didn't work properly with this opener and I had to install the new ones. Could've been because the old ones were about 15 years old. They looked different, so I'm assuming the tech changed.
For tech assistance and understanding how to adjust a torsion bar door, I found DDM Garage Door's website to be very helpful. That's where I got the kit to convert to high lift and they have good instructions on dealing with the springs and making adjustments for regular doors, too.
The MyQ stuff works fine for me. I'm not trying to integrate with other smart home stuff, but the app works to open and close the door, and Amazon Key works fine as well.
The instructions for programming additional openers could be better. It's confusing, and the text and pictures don't agree. Following the instructions in the manual, I understood it to say press the Learn button on the wall control twice and look for a red light, and then press the button on the new remote. But all that did was flash a yellow light, and put the opener into WiFi learning mode. I had to climb up to the opener and hit the rectangle button to cancel the WiFi mode. Then I used the square Learn button on the opener itself to learn a new remote. Programming my Homelink button in my 2017 Mazda CX-5 was easy, tho. Didn't have to hit the Learn button on the opener for that.
I gave Motion Detection 4 stars simply because it only senses motion at the wall control, and not from the opener itself. My wall controls don't face the main part of the garage, (they're perpendicular to the people door) and so don't sense me moving around once I'm out there. So the light keeps turning off. I've had other openers that had a sensor on the opener, and that worked better for keeping the light on.
But overall, it's a great opener and when my other two die, I'd happily replace them with this, or perhaps the RJ020 model since I won't need more hubs.Read more

The wifi module is included in the light in model RJ070. No need for yet another hub
Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2021
This is a nice gadget. It's very quiet, fairly fast, and with careful attention to the instructions, very safe and secure. The hub is included somewhere in the light or opener, so all it needs for an Intenet connection is a good WIFI signal from your router.
It took two half-days to tot...ally remove the old garage door opener, and balance the door (not for the faint of heart, get a pro to do it if you do not have the exact tools and knowledge.) Then I installed a 20-amp GFI protected outlet and this RJ070. 15 amps would have been enough, but it's what the breaker required. The reason this opener has a battery (unlike the RJO20) is because here in California, the power goes out when everything starts to burn. If you want to get out of your house in a hurry and you can't lift the garage door, this thing will do it for you. Enjoy.
Installation was pretty straightforward with huge fold-out installation sheets in English, French, and Spanish. There is also a manual that gives a few more details for those who like such things. Watch a few videos about the opener on YouTube before buying, pay heed to the measurements regarding the location and depth of the jack bar (the thing that spins to raise and lower the door. Those minimum dimensions are not options.
The only negative: the black plastic door on the garage door opener is amazingly flimsy and a goofy design flaw. I'm amazed I did not break it several times during the installation. Think of cheap toys that break on Christmas morning when your kid sits on them. Also, the unit is heavy, it weighs 37 pounds. So, if you are wimpy, get some help before you drag this up your step ladder.
Wires, wires, wires! Give some attention to not tangling up. Have everything nicely arranged or else it will look like a bowl of spaghetti hanging next to your garage door.Read more

Awesome garage door opener !!!
Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2023
I just recently had my entire garage door replaced including new rails. So, I figured I might as well replace the opener as well. I researched the wall mount openers and this one seemed to stand out to me.
I had a ceiling mount motor before so with this wall mount opener, I got to remov...e all that unsightly chain and track and motor from the ceiling. I got up in the attic space and added an outlet to the area near where the new opener would be placed. (Directly on the torsion bar near the ceiling). The instructions that came with the opener are very easy to follow. I was able to have it installed in about two hours all by my self. That was taking my time and making sure I was getting everything done just like the instructions said. Once installed, setting the limits was extremally easy and done on the first try.
The only suggestion I would make for anyone doing this for themselves, is to go get a cheap metal cutting step bit for your drill to make the hole needed for the automatic lock that comes with this opener. I love that item by the way, as soon as the door closes fully, the lock sends a dead bolt through the rail where you mount it. Press the button to open the door and it automatically retracts the dead bolt and opens the door.
If you have a nearby wifi connection for it, the MyQ app is awesome for monitoring the status of the door (open/closed etc.) and remotely opening and closing the door. I just wish it worked with Alexa without having to use additional apps/services to get it working. (Don't know if that's an Alexa or a MyQ issue)
Anyway, now that it's all installed and the new door is all adjusted and balanced, this thing is sooo much quieter than it was before. I can stand just in the house with the door from the house to the garage closed and I can't hear the garage door open and close. Before I could hear it in my bedroom.
The price for this style opener is a little more but believe me, it's worth every penny.Read more

Fast, Super Quiet, Easy to Install
Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2023
I installed two of these RJO70 openers in my garage and I couldn't be happier with them! I have one on a standard double door and the other on a single door that lifts up along a vaulted ceiling (instead of 90 degrees). With the torsion springs balanced properly, neither opener has any trouble movin...g the doors.
The instructions were very clear and installation and set up was a breeze. I've had problems with the cable lifting off the pulley with my old opener, so the tension sensor is fantastic. The included wireless lights are pretty bright, but not quite enough to be the only light in a two-car garage in my opinion.
One of my favorite features is the ability to lift the cover and press the up/down buttons to raise and lower the door from the opener. In my case, one of the openers is on the other side of the garage from the entry door where I installed the buttons and not having to walk all the way across the garage just to open the door is really handy!
This opener is more expensive than a standard belt or chain drive overhead opener but for how quiet they are, the overhead space you free up, and the inclusion of the battery backup for power failures it's money well spent.Read more
