Needed to connect Ring door bell to 24vac.

Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2023
To be able to connect the ring door bell 3 to 24 vac (to automatically recharge the battery) Ring tells you that you need this piece, and you really do. Without this resistor the Ring will not recharge the battery, and the battery will drain. It is easy to install and it works as expected.

Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2024
If you DIRECTLY hardwire a 1st Gen Ring Video Doorbell, without a doorbell chime in between, then it might appear to be working correctly, but you'll find out that the doorbell never actually trickle charges with most transformers due to the unregulated power.
