The price for the camera would be appropriate if the product lived up to the marketing promises. However, the picture and video quality are worse than my older Ring Indoor Cam (1st Gen), Compact Plug-In HD. The low-light visibility is fantastic (to an extent). This "2K" version produces grainy image...s and videos. Even after downloading, the photos and videos appear to have excessive sharpness settings applied. As a result, human faces beyond a foot or two appear blurry. After reading various reviews, I've realized this is the case, and the outcomes are not what we anticipated from this product. The design is ridiculous. It's enormous; it could fit a larger battery if one wants to use it as a wireless camera, and I'm assuming that's the reason for the size. If firmware updates fix the image and video quality, I may keep it - if not, it's going right back, and I'll save myself the hundred bucks.

Update 4-2-25: An "Executive Resolution Specialist with Ring" contacted me hours after posting my review. This specialist's "responsibility is to address and resolve technical issues mentioned in critical reviews through troubleshooting and education." With 25 years of technical expertise and a thorough understanding of the Ring app, troubleshooting can rarely salvage a poorly constructed product. This camera is outperformed in every way by my older HD model- this could be due to several factors, including poor compression, low bitrate, subpar sensor, inadequate image processing, or a combination of these issues. If my stance changes, I will update my review.

Update 4-3-25: While working, I received a phone call from the specialist I mentioned earlier. He kindly reminded me that he had sent an email yesterday with instructions for scheduling a brief troubleshooting appointment, which I read but did not schedule. He also suggested gathering additional feedback on the newly launched product. While I appreciate his effort, it seems redundant. No offense to him, he is just doing his job as directed by his employer. However, if Ring invested even half the time and money into improving its products before its launch instead of relying on resolution specialists to address critical customer reviews, it could avoid the embarrassment of launching a poor product. Unfortunately, new customers may overlook the product's flaws, and older customers might accept the reduced quality. I refuse to be the latter. Returning the product seems inevitable. Read more
