What is Neighborhood Guard?
Neighborhood Guard is a community-funded service that provides a dedicated guard to patrol your neighborhood 24/7. Neighbors sign up together, and when enough join, guard patrol and response starts. How much does it cost?
$49/month per location (plus applicable tax). No one is charged until the service activates.
How does the service activate?
Neighbors reserve subscriptions and invite neighbors — once enough people in your area sign up, 24/7 patrol goes live. No one is charged until service starts. Sufficient neighbors are needed to maintain the service.
Why should I invite my neighbors?
The more neighbors who join, the faster your community reaches the threshold to activate 24/7 patrol. And after activation, every additional neighbor means more homes protected and more patrol coverage across your streets — better security for everyone.
What if not enough neighbors sign up?
If the activation threshold isn't met within 180 days, no one is charged and you can re-reserve to continue working towards activation. Once service starts, you can cancel for any reason — cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing cycle.
What does my guard do?
Your guard patrols your neighborhood 24/7, conducts property checks, and responds directly to Alarm events and direct calls. Need help? Tap "Local Guard" in the Ring app to call your guard directly anytime to request help - your guard is in the neighborhood, so they're local and ready to respond quickly.
Who are the guards?
The guards are licensed, vetted professionals provided by a trusted third-party security service. Guards are uniformed and trained to patrol, respond, observe, deter, and document — their role is deterrence and visible presence on your streets. The majority of guards are armed and carry firearms in accordance with state licensing requirements. All guards undergo background checks, professional training, and licensing through the third-party security provider in accordance with applicable state and local requirements.
Does Neighborhood Guard replace 911?
No. It's complementary to emergency services — not a replacement. Always call 911 in an emergency. For life-safety events like fire, CO, and panic alarms, monitoring agents will request dispatch from emergency services.
What about my privacy?
Only your name and address are shared with the security provider so guards know where to patrol and respond.
Do I need a Ring device or subscription?
No. Neighborhood Guard works on its own. However, customers with a Ring base plan (Solo, Multi, Pro) or Virtual Security Guard get an added benefit: guard dispatch is automatically requested when contact sensors, motion sensors, or glass break sensors are triggered. For customers with Virtual Security Guard (VSG), guard dispatch is also requested for VSG events.
Where is Neighborhood Guard available?
Neighborhood Guard is currently available in select neighborhoods. We're actively expanding and will inform customers as it becomes available in new areas.
