How to connect Ring Doorbell with Chime Pro?
After securing both Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) and Chime Pro in your desired locations, follow the simple instructions to connect Chime Pro in the Ring app.
Do I need a subscription plan (Ring Protect) to use Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) and Chime Pro (2nd Gen)?
No. You can still use Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) to watch over your home and answer the door from anywhere, without a subscription to Ring Protect. Without Ring Protect, you’ll still receive real-time notifications when anyone comes to your door and you can answer notifications to see, hear and speak to visitors in real time, right from your mobile device. With Ring Protect, you'll also be able to review any past motion-notifications that you missed in real time and save your videos or share them with anyone. Photos will also be captured.

Does Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) save my videos and photos so I can view them later?
If you have a subscription to Ring Protect, videos captured by your Video Doorbell will be saved to your Ring account for up to 180 days, so you can review them at any time.
Photos captured will be saved to your Ring account for up to seven days. All Ring Video Doorbells come with a free 30-day trial of Ring Protect.1 During or after a trial, you can choose to purchase a Ring Protect Plan to save your videos and photos. How does Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) stay powered?
Video Doorbell (2nd Gen)is powered by a rechargeable, built-in battery or can be hardwired to existing doorbell wiring for continuous charging, or powered with a Ring plug-in adaptor (sold seperately).
What are Quick Replies?
Ideal for when you can't get to the door, or just don't feel like answering, Quick Replies let you set a pre-recorded audio message to play when your doorbell is pressed. Choose from six preset responses, toggle Quick Replies on and off in the Ring app and if you have a Ring Protect subscription you can even ask your visitor to leave a message, which you can playback later. Think of it as an answering machine for your front door.
What’s the difference between this Video Doorbell and the previous generation?
Both generations of Video Doorbell send notifications to your phone, tablet and PC when anyone presses your doorbell or triggers the built-in motion sensors. When you answer the notification, you can see, hear and speak to visitors from anywhere.
Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) adds 1080p HD video (vs 720p HD), Customisable Motion Zones and an upgraded mounting setup that simplifies removal when the battery needs charging. Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) also has improved audio quality and crisper night vision.
Will these still be compatible with mounting brackets, solar mounts, charging cables and wedge/corner kits from the previous generation Video Doorbell?
Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) is only backwards compatible with the charging cable. A new mounting bracket comes supplied in the box. Compatible Wedge and Corner Kits are sold separately. Solar mounts are not optimised for Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) but an updated version is available for purchase.
What’s Ring Protect?
Ring Protect is a comprehensive service that activates video recording, saving and sharing for your Video Doorbell (2nd Gen), plus a few extra perks. There are two tiers of Ring Protect: Basic and Plus.
Ring Protect Basic activates video recording and sharing for individual Ring Video Doorbells and Security Cameras. It saves all your videos to your Ring account for up to 180 days, so you can review what you missed and share what’s important. Ring Protect Basic subscriptions start at A$4.95 a month per device. Ring Protect Basic only covers one device.
Ring Protect Plus adds even more to your home security. It includes video recording and sharing for unlimited Ring Video Doorbells and Security Cameras at your home. Ring Protect Plus subscriptions start at only A$15 a month per home.

What is the difference between Chime Pro and Chime?
The main differences are Chime Pro extends wifi coverage for Ring devices, has dual-band 2.4GHz & 5GHz wifi connectivity (vs 2.4GHz only), a built-in nightlight, and guided feedback during the setup process to help you find the best location for your Chime Pro.
Both Chime Pro and Chime are compatible with all existing Ring Video Doorbells and Security Cameras, plug into standard wall outlets and let you hear real-time notifications anywhere in your home.
What is the difference between Chime Pro and a mesh network like eero?
A Chime Pro is the simplest solution if you want to expand and improve coverage only to your Ring devices, directly from your Ring app. An alternative solution to improve household connectivity would be to install a mesh wifi device such as eero, which can amplify your internet connection to reduce weak wifi areas in your home, improving connectivity for all your smart devices.
