The best camera for your home depends on where you want to put it. Spotlight Camera 2K (2nd Gen) works great for smaller areas such as side entrances, alleyways, or verandahs. Floodlight Camera 2K (2nd Gen) is better for larger areas such as the driveway and back garden.
Does Spotlight Camera 2K (2nd Gen) support 24/7 Recording?
Yes, when connected to wired power (plug-in or wired). 24/7 Recording continuously streams and records video to the cloud, ensuring nothing is missed between motion events. Requires a Ring Protect subscription plus the 24/7 Continuous Recording add-on. Not available on battery or solar power.
Do I need Ring Protect to use Spotlight Camera (2nd Gen)?
No. You can still use Spotlight Camera (2nd Gen) to watch over your home without a subscription to Ring Protect. Without Ring Protect, you’ll still receive instant notifications when motion is detected, and you can answer the notification to see, hear and speak to visitors in real time right from your mobile device.
However, without a subscription to Ring Protect, you won’t be able to review any videos that you missed in real time, and you won’t be able to save your videos or share them with anyone.
