Signs that your doorbell might not be receiving enough power

If you have checked the steps for connection issues and your doorbell is still not working, you might have a power problem When your doorbell isn't getting enough power, you might notice:

Fixing power issues with your hardwired doorbell

Before you get started, check that you have the latest version of the Ring app installed on your phone or tablet.

Use correct wire gauge. For optimal performance, we recommend using 16- to 20-gauge wire when installing your Ring doorbell. If your wire is too thin or too thick, the power might not transmit adequately to your device. Confirm that your wire gauge falls within the appropriate size range.

Confirm that your transformer has enough voltage. Learn more about the power needed for hardwired Ring doorbells. If your existing unit is not supplying enough power, you will need to upgrade your transformer.

If you can not connect your Ring doorbell to regular doorbell wires, you can use a special Plug-In Adapter instead. This adapter works like a phone charger - just plug it into any wall outlet to power your doorbell. You'll need to buy the adapter on its own.
