HOW DOES RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL WORK?
Ring Video Doorbell connects to your home Wi-Fi network and sends real-time notifications to your smart phone or tablet when someone is at your door. Using our free Ring App which is available for Apple, Android, and Windows 10 devices, you can see an HD Video stream of the person at your door and speak to them using two-way audio communication. Ring Doorbell can alert you when someone presses the button on your doorbell or when motion is detected. Ring Doorbells operate on battery power or hooked up to your home doorbell wiring.
HOW BIG IS RING DOORBELL?
Ring Doorbell is 4.98 x 2.43 x 0.87 inches, 12.65 x 6.17 x 2.21 cm.
DOES RING REQUIRE POWER WIRES TO WORK?
Ring Doorbell can operate wirelessly using its built-in battery. You also have the option of connecting your Ring Doorbell to your home’s existing doorbell wiring.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE THE BATTERY TO RECHARGE?
When connected to a 2.1 amp charger, Ring will fully charge in approximately 4-5 hours. When connected to a 1 amp charger, Ring will fully charge in approximately 9-10 hours.
WILL I BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE BATTERY IN MY RING DOORBELL IS LOW?
Yes - you'll receive email reminders when your battery runs low. The Ring app also features a low-battery warning, as well as a battery level indicator that you can check at any time.
ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL FEES INVOLVED?
We offer optional Cloud Video Recording plans to save videos captured by your Ring Doorbell. However Ring Doorbell will operate without a subscription, providing the same real-time notifications and live streaming video of events without saving a video of the event. Our cloud video recording plans are optional and cost just $3/month or $30/annually for 6 months of video recordings. Depending on where we are shipping and other factors, Ring.com orders may be subject to taxes, shipping fees, and import duties.

WHAT IF SOMEONE STEALS MY RING DOORBELL?
Ring Doorbell is equipped with proprietary security screws that keep the device securely mounted. If your Ring Doorbell is stolen, please contact us with a police report and we will replace it free of charge.
IS RING BLOCKED IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, QATAR, JORDAN, AND SAUDI ARABIA?
Ring's connection protocols are blocked by ISPs in these countries. That means that you won't be able to use our Ring Doorbell in United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan or Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, there is very little Ring can do about this situation. We apologize for the inconvenience.
DO I NEED A WI-FI CONNECTION TO SET UP MY RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL?
Ring Doorbell requires a wireless Internet connection for operation. Ring Doorbell is compatible with wireless routers running 802.11 B, G, or N on 2.4 GHz.
DOES RING DOORBELL NEED TO BE TETHERED TO THE COMPUTER DURING THE SETUP PROCESS?
Ring Doorbell is set up wirelessly by the Ring App on your smart device. Ring Doorbell does not need to be connected to a computer during setup or operation.
DO I HAVE TO CHARGE THE INTERNAL BATTERY PRIOR TO SETTING UP AND INSTALLING MY RING DOORBELL?
No, most Ring Doorbells arrive with a battery charge ranging from 50%-70%.
WHY DO I NEED TO CONNECT RING DOORBELL TO MY PERSONAL WI-FI NETWORK?
Ring Doorbell uses your Wi-Fi network to send live HD video and audio to the Ring App on your smart device.
WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THE RING APP?
Download the free Ring App from iTunes App Store, Google Play Store, or Windows 10 App Store.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PERSONAL WI-FI CONNECTION GOES DOWN?
If you lose wireless internet connection, Ring Doorbell will not be able to send audio and video data to your smartphones and tablets. However, if you connect Ring Doorbell to your wired doorbell you will still hear your doorbell when a visitor presses the button.
IS RING DOORBELL COMPATIBLE WITH A WIRELESS DOORBELL?
Ring Doorbell is not compatible with a wireless doorbell. We do offer Ring Chime as a companion wireless speaker to alert you when someone is at your door. Please visit www.ring.com/chime for more information.
CAN I MOUNT RING DOORBELL TO OTHER SURFACES SUCH AS GLASS?
Ring Doorbells can be mounted to multiple surfaces. We provide the tools and equipment necessary to mount Ring Doorbell to wood, brick, concrete, and stucco. You can use double sided 2 pound foam compression tape (not included) to attach the mounting bracket to other surfaces like glass, aluminum siding, and other surfaces that can't be drilled.
WHAT DOORBELL TRANSFORMERS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH RING DOORBELL?
Ring Doorbells may be connected to low voltage transformers that power home doorbell kits. You can connect Ring in series with a transformer operating between 8V and 24V AC only. Intercom systems and DC transformers are not compatible. If you would like to wire your Ring Doorbell to a compatible low voltage AC transformer without a doorbell kit, you must use a resistor. WHAT ARE WI-FI RANGE EXTENDERS? WILL THEY IMPROVE THE WIRELESS INTERNET CONNECTION TO MY RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL?
A wireless repeater is a stand-alone unit that extends the range of your Wi-Fi signal by repeating the signal over a greater distance. They are simple devices that are easy to connect to your Wi-Fi network. Once connected, position your repeater somewhere near your Ring™ to ensure the best possible signal. We recommend you configure the repeater with a unique network name (SSID) and then connect your Ring™ Video Doorbell to this unique network name.
DO I HAVE TO TURN OFF POWER TO MY WIRED DOORBELL PRIOR TO INSTALLING RING DOORBELL?
Although it’s not necessary, we advise that you do turn the power off to your wired doorbell in order to avoid any potential risk.
BESIDES WOOD SCREWS, DO YOU OFFER CONCRETE BLOCK SCREWS OR ANCHORS TO MOUNT RING DOORBELL?
Yes, every Ring Doorbell comes standard with heavy duty screws and anchors.
WILL RING DOORBELL WORK WITH AN IPOD TOUCH?
Yes, so long as you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.
WHAT VERSION OF iPHONE, iPAD, ANDROID, OR WINDOWS WILL I NEED?
Apple devices must be iOS 8 or newer. Android devices must be version 4.0 or newer, and Windows machines must be running Windows 10.
WHAT TYPE OF DOORBELL CAN BE CONNECTED TO RING DOORBELL?
You will only be able to connect Ring Doorbell to a (hard)wired doorbell. The doorbell must have a transformer with a voltage of 8 VAC – 24 VAC. Wireless intercom systems, and doorbells using a DC transformer are not supported.
IS RING DOORBELL COMPATIBLE WITH BLACKBERRY OR WINDOWS?
Ring Doorbell is not compatible with Blackberry or Windows 8 devices.
DOES RING DOORBELL WORK WITH ELECTRICAL LOCKS?
Our Ring App is compatible with smart lock systems from LockState, Kisi, or Lockitron. When you receive a "Ding" or call from your Ring, you will have the option to launch the smart lock app from the Ring App and remotely unlock the door for your guest.
HOW DOES RING DOORBELL WORK WITH MULTIPLE USERS?
After setting up your Ring Doorbell, you can share access to additional users simply by entering their email address. When multiple users are connected to Ring Doorbell, all users will be notified of any activity via push notifications. For more info, see this question.
HOW MANY DEVICES CAN I PAIR TO EACH RING DOORBELL?
You can pair as many Wi-Fi enabled smartphones and tablets as you would like to a Ring Doorbell. Ring Doorbells also connect to any number of Ring Chimes.
CAN RING DOORBELL WITHSTAND THE ELEMENTS: EXTREME HEAT, COLD, RAIN AND SNOW?
Yes, Ring Doorbell will work in freezing temperatures and is resistant to rain water, however we do not recommend that you submerge your Ring Doorbell in water. Operating temperatures for Ring Doorbell are -5 - 120°F (-20 – 50°C).
WILL THERE BE A CAT5 WIRED VERSION?
No, Ring Doorbell was designed to wirelessly connect to your Wi-Fi network.
DOES RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL SUPPORT WPA2?
Yes, Ring Doorbell supports WPA2, WPA and WEP. 64-bit WEP encryption is supported, 128-bit WEP is not supported. We recommend WPA2 for best results.
DOES RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL HAVE BLUETOOTH?
Ring Doorbell operates through Wi-Fi, not Bluetooth.
WHAT IS THE VIDEO QUALITY OF RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL?
The video quality is 720p HD.
WILL THERE BE AN APPLICATION PROGRAMMING INTERFACE (API)?
We are looking into offering an API. At this time there is no estimate for availability.
DO I NEED A STATIC IP FROM MY INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER?
A static IP address is not required. Connect Ring Doorbell to your Wi-Fi network with our easy-to-use Ring App and everything else is handled automatically.
CAN RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL RUN ONLY WITHIN MY INTERNAL WI-FI LAN?
Ring Doorbell requires Internet connectivity to connect and send push notifications to your device. Connecting to our cloud ensures that your Ring Doorbell can manage sessions and reach your smartphone and tablet whether you are home or away.
DOES RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL SUPPORT 802.11N?
Yes. Ring Doorbell can connect to any 802.11 b/g/n compatible network using the 2.4 gHZ frequency band.
WILL I BE CHARGED NOW OR WHEN MY RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL SHIPS?
You will be charged as soon you place your order.
COULD YOU SEND ME MORE INFORMATION ABOUT PAYMENT SECURITY?
All credit card information is processed by a 3rd party company: Stripe (https://stripe.com). Your connection with our servers and Stripe is made through HTTPS, the standard secure protocol for handling sensitive information.
IS THERE A WARRANTY FOR RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL?
We offer a standard 1 year warranty which we service internally.
WILL I RECEIVE AN INVOICE FOR MY RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL?
After you place your order, we will send you a purchase confirmation email. You can log into your Ring account to view order history and from there view a printable invoice.
CAN I ORDER THROUGH PAYPAL?
Yes, we offer PayPal as a payment option on the checkout page to purchase Ring Products only. If you would like to purchase both Ring Products and a subscription plan together on the order, you will have to use a credit card. PayPal is not supported for recurring subscription billing.
IS RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL FCC APPROVED?
Yes, Ring Doorbell is FCC approved.
Shipping and Returns
WHAT ARE MY SHIPPING OPTIONS? DO YOU OFFER OVERNIGHT OR EXPEDITED SHIPPING?
Ring Video Doorbell: We ship all domestic (within the U.S.) orders at no cost to you via USPS Priority Mail which generally takes 5-7 business days from the time the order is processed. We charge $20 for international delivery of all Ring Doorbell orders, including orders that include a Ring Chime.
Chime: if you’re only ordering Chime(s), there is a shipping charge of $4.95 for delivery within the U.S., and $9.95 for international delivery.
For domestic orders (within the U.S.), we offer two options for expedited shipping: FedEx Express Saver 3-day delivery for $19.95 and FedEx Overnight for $29.95. Please note that we don’t currently offer expedited shipping for Chime-only orders.
CAN I EXPEDITE MY INTERNATIONAL ORDER?
We don’t offer expedited shipping for international orders.
WHAT ARE MY CHIME SHIPPING OPTIONS?
Chime shipping is free if you order with a Ring Doorbell. If you buy Chime without a Ring, it will cost $4.95 for domestic (within the U.S.) or $9.95 outside of the U.S. International Chime orders are shipped via postal mail.
WHEN WILL MY ORDER SHIP?
We ship out orders Monday through Friday. All domestic orders placed through Ring.com before 12PM PST, will ship the same day. All orders placed after 12:00PM PST will be shipped the following business day.
International orders will require 24 hours to be processed before shipment is fulfilled.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY ORDER IF I SELECT FEDEX OVERNIGHT DELIVERY ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON OR FRIDAY?
If you place an order after 12:00PM PST on a Thursday and choose the Fedex Overnight option during checkout, your order will be shipped on Friday and arrive on Monday. If you place an order after 12:00PM PST on a Friday, it will ship on Monday and arrive on Tuesday.
CAN I ADD OR REMOVE ITEMS FROM AN EXISTING ORDER?
We cannot modify an order once it’s been placed. We offer a 30-day no questions asked return policy if you’d like to return any unwanted products once they’ve been delivered.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
You have 30 days from the date you received your device(s) to request a full refund. You are responsible for covering the cost of return shipping. Once we receive back your product(s), you will be refunded the full amount of the returned devices to the original payment source used.
ARE THERE ANY COUNTRIES THAT YOU DO NOT SHIP TO?
Currently, we do not fulfill orders sent to Russia or the United Arab Emirates.
DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE APP OPEN IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE NOTIFICATION?
As long as you’re not signed out of the app, your smartphone or tablet will receive the notification.
DOES RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL EMIT AN AUDIBLE ALERT?
Yes, we engineered Ring Doorbell to emit an alert outside of the home. Ring Doorbell may also be compatible with your current hardwired doorbell. We included terminals on the back of the mounting bracket that you may connect your pre-existing doorbell wiring too, allowing Ring Doorbell to strike your pre-existing doorbell within the home. The next time someone presses the button on your Ring Doorbell, it will also sound the doorbell inside your home. We also offer Ring Chime, a Wi-Fi connected chime for your Ring Doorbell.
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR VISITOR IS LOCATED IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLE RING™ VIDEO DOORBELLS AND/OR MULTIPLE PROPERTIES?
During setup you are asked to give each Ring Doorbell a unique name. Notifications are delivered with the name of the Doorbell that triggered them, showing you exactly where the activity is occurring.
IF I AM ON MY SMARTPHONE WITHOUT ANY WI-FI CONNECTION, WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO SEE MY VISITORS?
You don't need a Wi-Fi connection as long as you have internet connectivity and your particular carrier doesn't block video streaming (e.g. FaceTime). If your carrier enables video streaming and you have a good 4G connection, you will be see real time HD video from your Ring Doorbell anywhere you have coverage.
WILL ALL USERS ASSOCIATED WITH RING® VIDEO DOORBELL BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE BUTTON IS PRESSED OR MOTION IS DETECTED?
Yes, all users will be notified and will be able to interact with a visitor. Users can also set their own custom notification settings, for example you may choose to be notified about all activity, including motion, while your partner may choose to be notified only when someone presses the button on your Ring Doorbell.
WILL MY RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL SEND ME A PUSH NOTIFICATION WITHOUT INTERNET CONNECTIVITY?
You will receive a push notification when you are connected to 3G, 4G, LTE or Wi-Fi. If your phone is offline when activity is detected, you will see a missed call alert in your Recent Activity log within the Ring app.
DOES RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL PROVIDE A LIVE VIDEO FEED?
Ring Doorbells connected to home doorbell wiring and Ring Doorbell Pro have the ability to use Live View, our on-demand viewing feature.
We are working on adding Live View to Ring Doorbells operating on battery power and Stick Up Cams.
CAN I RECORD/STORE THE VIDEO FROM THE CAMERA?
Yes. With our optional Cloud Video Recording service, all video footage and audio recordings captured by your Ring Doorbell is stored in our secure cloud servers for up to 6 months from the date of the activity. You can access and download these videos anytime with the Ring App or online at www.ring.com/account/activity. Ring Doorbells are not able to send videos to network attached local storage. All Ring Doorbells come with a 30 day trial of our Cloud Video Recording service that activates automatically when your Ring Doorbell comes online. After the thirty day trial period, optional Cloud Video Recording subscriptions are $3/month or $30/annually for each Ring Doorbell.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL DETECTS MOTION?
Ring Doorbell can detect motion up to 30 feet away from the device. When motion is detected, the user will instantly receive a mobile push notification, informing them of the activity. If the user decides to open the app, they will be able to access on-demand live footage of the activity. For users with the optional Cloud Recording feature, all motion-triggered events and doorbell button presses are automatically recorded. This footage can be viewed instantly at any time via the Ring app.
CAN RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL CAPTURE CLEAR VIDEO FOOTAGE EVEN AT NIGHT?
Yes, Ring Doorbell features an array of IR LEDs to illuminate the camera's field of view when a lack of light is detected within the device.
HOW LONG CAN RING™ VIDEO DOORBELL RUN OFF OF THE INTERNAL BATTERY?
Under normal use, Ring Doorbells can run for 6 to 12 months between battery charges depending on usage and operating environment
