Both Ring Video Doorbell 3 and Ring Video Doorbell 4 send notifications to your phone, tablet, and PC when anyone presses your doorbell or triggers the built-in motion sensors. When you answer the notification, you can see, hear, and speak to visitors from anywhere. Both battery-powered doorbells also have Advanced Motion Detection with Customizable Motion Zones, Quick Replies that help you answer the door when you’re busy, and customizable privacy settings.
The main difference is that Ring Video Doorbell 4 includes our Pre-Roll feature which allows you to see up to 4 additional seconds of color video before the motion event was even triggered – a first-to-market feature for battery-powered doorbells and unique exclusively to Ring. Ring Video Doorbell 4 also has improved performance from Ring Video Doorbell 3, including improved motion detection and night vision.
If your installation area is frequently very cloudy, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your Ring Solar Panel receives. Ring Solar Panel does require direct sunlight, so filtered/indirect sunlight through the clouds would not provide a charge to your doorbell.
Ring recommends at least 3-4 hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. You will want to make sure there are no obstructions that could be casting a shadow on your Ring Solar Panel such as an extended roof, trees, bushes, etc.

Video History, Saving, and Sharing
Your Ring videos in the cloud are stored temporarily, up to 180 days. Changing your video storage time will only affect videos that are recorded after you adjust your storage time setting. Snapshot Capture photos in the cloud are stored up to 7 days.
Extended Warranty
For extended warranty coverage, "Eligible Ring Devices" are Ring devices covered by an active Protect Plus/Pro Plan, if the Ring device was under the 1-year manufacturer’s warranty period at the time you added the device to your Protect Plus/Pro Plan. Non-Ring and other third-party devices are not eligible for the extended warranty. In the U.S., in lieu of the Ring extended warranty, Eligible Ring Devices are covered via a service contract administered by SquareTrade, an Allstate company; SquareTrade/Allstate terms are available here. The cost for the Allstate Protection Plan is included in the cost of the Ring Protect Plan. You may purchase a standalone Allstate Plan by going to www.amazon.com and searching for an Allstate Plan.
