Welcome to the Ring app

Welcome to Ring!

Whether you've just purchased your first Ring product or you're a long-time neighbour, congratulations on adding to the ring of security around your home! The following article covers some basic information that will get you up and running quickly.

First you'll need to set up your new device in the Ring app:

1. Download and open the Ring app.

2. Select Set Up a Device.

3. Scan QR code with the Ring app.

Next check out some of the other functions of the Ring app.

Take a tour of the Ring app

Your Ring app is a powerful piece of software and the command centre for all of your Ring devices. Take some time to learn all about the Ring app and what its functions are.

Sign up for a Ring Protect plan

Ring Protect is an optional plan that allows video recordings from your Ring devices to be saved in your Ring account, along with many other features. Without Ring Protect, you access Live View on your doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you do not get video recordings of those events.

Set up your users and roles

Once you've completed setting up your Ring device in your app, you can decide who has access to your system. Certain people need total control over the system while others only need to be able to perform a few simple functions. The homeowner, for example, needs to be able to configure every aspect of their devices. A neighbour who checks the house cameras while the family is on holiday needs very limited access. Fortunately there is a system in place to deal with this situation: Shared Users and Guest Users.
