A warning symbol that consists of an exclamation point inside of a triangle shape.

Caution: Electrical shock hazard. Disconnect power to the installation area at your circuit breaker or fuse box before beginning installation. Always use caution when handling electrical wiring.

Installation by a qualified electrician might be required in your area. Refer to your local laws and building codes before performing electrical work; permits plus professional installation might be required by law. For your safety, only use an existing doorbell transformer within the ranges specified below or compatible Ring accessories to power your device.

To connect to an existing doorbell system, use:

    Hardwired transformer (8 to 24VAC, 50/60 Hz, 5VA to 40VA)
  • Video Doorbell Wired:
    Hardwired transformer (10 to 24VAC, 50/60 Hz, 8VA to 40VA)
  • Video Doorbell Plus,
Video Doorbell Pro (formerly Video Doorbell Pro 2)
, and Wired Doorbell 2K Plus:
    Hardwired transformer (16 to 24VAC, 50/60 Hz, 10VA to 40VA)
  • Wired Doorbell 4K Pro:
    Hardwired transformer (16 to 24VAC, 50/60 Hz, 10VA to 40VA)

Ring accessories are sold separately and might include:

  • DIN Rail Transformer (24Vdc, 420mA)
  • DIN Rail Transformer (24Vdc, 500mA)
  • Plug-In Adapter (24Vdc, 500mA)

Using incompatible power sources can damage your device and cause electric shock.

Connecting your Video Doorbell directly to a Ring DC transformer

Ring Plug-In Adapter (2nd Gen) is designed to convert battery-powered Video Doorbells so they can use a wired power current. It can also be used in place of a direct power connection for Video Doorbell Plus, Video Doorbell Pro (formerly Video Doorbell Pro 2), and Video Doorbell Wired. It is not compatible with Peephole Cam or Video Doorbell Elite.

Important note: Newer Video Doorbells come with DC power supplies instead of AC. These have been designed specifically for Video Doorbells and have additional safety features not found in other DC supplies to ensure that you do not damage your Video Doorbell or power supply.
