Free Trial for Virtual Security Guard

The length of your Virtual Security Guard¹ free trial is stated in the Ring app. Your trial begins after you tap Start Free Trial and Authorize Virtual Security Guard in the Ring app. You will need to complete setup to begin using Virtual Security Guard. What do I need to use Virtual Security Guard?

Virtual Security Guard requires a Ring Alarm², a compatible camera, a compatible Ring Protect subscription, and enrollment in Alarm Professional Monitoring (all sold separately)³.

How can I opt out of my Virtual Security Guard Free Trial?

You can opt out of your free trial anytime by following these steps in the Ring app:

  1. Tap the menu on the Ring app (or tap the
    Guard
    tile on your Dashboard and go to Step 4).
  2. Tap
    Control Center
  3. Tap

    Trial Management
  5. Tap

How will I know when my trial is ending?

You will receive an email when your trial is almost over, either because you are nearing the end of your 14 days or close to 175 monitored events.

How will I know when my trial has ended?

You will receive an email when your trial has ended. To continue using Virtual Security Guard, you must purchase a subscription by going to the Plans page of your Ring account.

Will I be automatically charged when my free trial ends?

No, you will not be charged for your free trial of Virtual Security Guard. To purchase a subscription for Virtual Security Guard at the end of your free trial, visit the Plans page of your Ring account.

What happens if I purchase Virtual Security Guard before my free trial is over?

If you purchase a Virtual Security Guard subscription before your free trial is over, your trial will immediately end and the payment method on your Ring account will be charged $99 per month, per location.

Which motion events count toward my trial?

Guards from Rapid Response will monitor events on your enrolled cameras when a person is detected and your Mode is set to Home or Away. These events count toward the number of monitored events in your free trial. You are in charge of which Ring cameras are monitored and when. Where can I see how many events Guards have monitored during my trial?

You can view the number of monitored events in the Event Management page of your Control Center.

My free trial is over and I’m ready to subscribe to Virtual Security Guard. What’s next?

You can add Virtual Security Guard for $99/month per location to a compatible Ring Protect subscription, just go to the Protect Plan page of your Ring Account and select Purchase Virtual Security Guard. Virtual Security Guard is only available as a monthly subscription, there’s no long-term commitment and you can cancel for any reason. Rapid Response is the provider of the camera motion monitoring service, and Ring bills your account for this service on the behalf of Rapid Response.

¹ Virtual Security Guard is available only within the U.S. (all 50 states, but not U.S. territories), and is an add-on service that requires enrollment, and the following (all sold separately): a subscription fee per enrolled location in addition to a compatible Ring Protect plan, a Ring Alarm system, enrollment in Ring Alarm professional monitoring, and at least 1 eligible device. Rapid Response is the seller and provider of the camera motion person detection monitoring service and agents. Ring bills your Ring account for this service. Virtual Security Guard subscription fee includes 175 monitored camera motion person detection events per per month. After you've reached 175 monitored events in one month of your billing cycle, Virtual Security Guard will either be suspended until your next billing period begins, or you can opt into Extra Events for an additional cost to continue using the service.
