Sound Detection in the Ring App
If you have a Ring Protect Plus subscription, your Wired Doorbell Pro (formerly Video Doorbell Pro 2) or Floodlight Cam Wired Pro can use Sound Detection in addition to Motion Detection and send app notifications¹ when they detect certain sounds.² The recordings of these events will also appear as entries in your Event History and Event Summary.³

How to set up Sound Detection in the Ring app
For each device you want to set up Sound Detection for:
- Tapmenu (≡)on the top left.
- TapDevices.
- Tap your Wired Doorbell Pro or Floodlight Cam Wired Pro.
- TapSound Detection.
- Toggle on the sounds you want to receive notifications and recordings for.
- Optional: Adjust your device’s sound detection sensitivity to low, medium, or high.

Troubleshooting notifications
If you’re not receiving notifications, make sure that:
- Audio Streaming and Recording is turned on in the Ring app for each device that is using Sound Detection:
- Tapmenu (☰)on the top left.
- TapDevices.
- Tap your Wired Doorbell Pro or Floodlight Cam Wired Pro.
- TapDevice Settings.
- TapPrivacy Settings.
- Toggle onAudio Streaming and Recording.

2 Your device can detect and notify you about specific sounds such as car alarms and dog barks.
3 Sound detection does not store or send audio or video to the cloud unless the device detects a selected sound.
