Viewing Your Event History and Event Summary in the Ring App

In the Ring app, you can view a history of what's happened on your Ring devices like Motion Alerts, Doorbell Rings, and more.

How to view your Event History

With Event History, you can see a list of what's happened on your Ring devices, sort by Device, Event Types, and more.

Reviewing previously recorded video on your Ring cameras and doorbells requires a Ring Protect subscription.

To see your Event History for one device:

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
  2. Tap the more icon
    (•••)
    on the camera want to access.
  3. Tap your device's
    Settings
    .
  4. Tap the
    Event History
    tile.

To see your Event History for all devices:

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
  2. Tap the top
    menu (☰)
    .
  3. Tap
    History
    .

Tap the filters at the top of the screen to filter by Device, Event Type, and more.

How to view your Event History Timeline

Event History Timeline is a video timeline that provides easy access to all events recorded1 by your doorbells or cameras. You'll see Event History markers on the timeline, letting you know when certain events happened.

This feature requires a compatible Ring Protect subscription.

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
  2. Tap the camera preview you want to access.
    • If you have
      Tap to Camera Preview for Live View
      turned on, tap
      End Live
      .
  3. Your Event History Timeline will open.

Slide the timeline left or right to review past Events.

How to view your Event Summary

In the Ring app, you get a summary of what's happened at your location or for each device.

This feature requires a Ring Protect Plus or Pro subscription.

To see your Event Summary for one device:

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
  2. Tap the more icon (•••) on the camera want to access.
  3. Tap your device's
    Settings
    .
  4. Tap the
    Event History
    tile.
  5. Tap
    Event Summary
    .

To see your Event Summary for all devices:

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
  2. Tap the top
    menu (☰)
    .
  3. Tap
    History
    .
  4. Tap
    Event Summary
    .

To change your Location, tap the down caret (▼) on the main dashboard and select another Location.

You can review what happened on your Ring devices in your Ring account.

  1. Tap the

  2. Tap

    .

Tap the filters at the top of the screen to filter by Device, Event Type, and more.

Your Ring videos in the cloud are stored temporarily, up to 180 days. ​Changing your video storage time will only affect videos that are recorded after you adjust your storage time setting. Check Ring Protect Subscription Plans for more information.
