Set up Sound Detection

The following cameras and doorbell can detect and notify you about specific sounds such as car alarms and dog barks with Sound Detection:

  • Wired Video Doorbell Pro (formerly Video Doorbell Pro 2)
  • Floodlight Cam Wired Pro

This feature requires a Ring Home Standard or Premium subscription.

The recordings of these events will also appear as entries in your Event History and Event Summary

Which doorbell or security camera do I have?

Important: Sound Detection is currently only available for some users. You'll see a Sound Detection tile on your device dashboard in the Ring app if it is available for you and your device.

How to set up Sound Detection in the Ring app

For each device you want to set up Sound Detection for:

  1. Tap
    menu (≡)
    on the top left.
  2. Tap
    Devices
    .
  3. Tap your Wired Video Doorbell Pro, Floodlight Cam Wired Pro or Floodlight Cam Wired Pro (2nd Gen).
  4. Tap
    Sound Detection
    .
  5. Toggle on the sounds you want to receive notifications and recordings for.
  6. (Optional) Adjust your device’s sound detection sensitivity to low, medium or high.

You can review, share and delete your Sound Detection recordings from Event History. Learn how to share, unshare and delete recordings.

If you’re not receiving notifications, make sure that:

    Privacy Settings.
  6. Toggle on
    Audio Streaming and Recording.
