Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) features Retinal 2K video quality, which means it captures footage at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
What is the minimum internet speed required for 2K streaming?
A minimum upload speed of 5 Mbps is recommended. For the best experience with 2K video recording and streaming, we recommend at least 12 Mbps upload speed.
Will Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) automatically adjust video quality based on internet speed?
Yes, the camera features adaptive bit rate streaming technology that automatically adjusts video quality based on your available bandwidth to maintain a stable connection.
Should I get Spotlight Cam (2nd Gen) or Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) for my home?
The best camera for your home depends on where you want to put it. Spotlight Cam (2nd Gen) works great for smaller areas such as side gardens, alleyways, or patios. Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) is better for larger areas such as the driveway and back garden.
Does Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen) support 24/7 Recording?
Yes, when connected to wired power (plug-in or wired). 24/7 Recording continuously streams and records video to the cloud, ensuring nothing is missed between motion events. Requires a Ring Protect subscription plus the Continuous Recording add-on. Not available on battery power.
Compatible Ring subscription required. Available on select devices. Not compatible with select features and configurations. Recordings are temporarily stored in the cloud, up to 14 days. This feature is dependent upon network connectivity and other factors.
Is a Ring Home subscription required for Floodlight Cam (2nd Gen)?
No. You can still use your Video Doorbell or Security Camera to watch over your home and answer the door from anywhere, even without a subscription to Ring Home. Without Ring Home, you'll still receive real-time notifications when anyone comes to your door, and you can answer the notification to see hear, and speak to visitors in real time right from your mobile device. When you access your Ring Dashboard, you'll be able to view the image last captured by active devices.
However, without a subscription to Ring Home, you won't be able to review any videos or images you missed, and you won't be able to save your videos or photos or share them with anyone. Click here to learn more about Ring Home and to choose a plan that works for you.
