If my Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus is hardwired, does it still need a battery?
Yes, your device will get a trickle charge from the wiring, but it still requires a battery.
My battery is hardwired to my existing doorbell or connected to a solar charger. But according to the Ring app, my charge keeps falling to 90%. Why is this happening?
The trickle charge your Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus gets from being hardwired or solar charged is only used to charge the battery – not run its operations. To maximise the battery's overall lifespan, your doorbell waits for its charge to fall below 90% before using wired or solar power to recharge it.
