What is the minimum internet speed required for 2K streaming?
A minimum upload speed of 5 Mbps is recommended. For the best experience with 4K video recording and streaming, we recommend at least 12 Mbps upload speed.
Will Floodlight Camera (2nd Gen) automatically adjust video quality based on internet speed?
Yes, the camera features adaptive bit rate streaming technology that automatically adjusts video quality based on your available bandwidth to maintain a stable connection.
Should I get Spotlight Camera (2nd Gen) or Floodlight Camera (2nd Gen) for my home?
The best camera for your home depends on where you want to put it. Spotlight Camera (2nd Gen) works great for smaller areas such as side gardens, alleyways, or verandahs. Floodlight Camera (2nd Gen) is better for larger areas such as the driveway and back garden.
Does Floodlight Camera (2nd Gen) support 24/7 Recording?
Yes. 24/7 Recording continuously streams and records video to the cloud, ensuring nothing is missed between motion events. Requires a Ring Protect subscription plus the 24/7 Continuous Recording add-on. Not available on battery power.

Do I need Ring Protect to use Floodlight Camera (2nd Gen)?
No. You can still use Floodlight Camera (2nd Gen) to watch over your home without a subscription to Ring Protect. Without Ring Protect, you’ll still receive instant notifications when motion is detected, and you can answer the notification to see, hear and speak to visitors in real time right from your mobile device.
However, without a subscription to Ring Protect, you won’t be able to review any videos that you missed in real time, and you won’t be able to save your videos or share them with anyone. Photos will not be captured. Click here to learn more about Ring Protect and to choose a plan that works for you.
