Installing Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen), Plug-In

Learn how to mount your Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen), Plug-In on walls, tables, shelves and even ceilings with this easy-to-follow guide.

Stick Up Cam must be positioned right-side up if mounted on the ceiling. If Stick Up Cam is mounted upside-down, your Ring videos¹ also be upside-down. Video orientation cannot be changed in the Ring app.

Choose your location

Your Stick Up Cam can keep your home protected from indoors and outside — whether it’s sitting on its stand or mounted to the ceiling using a Stick Up Cam Mount (sold separately).

Install Stick Up Cam on a table or shelf

Set up your Stick Up Cam on the table of shelf of your choice by simply placing it on the surface. And just like that your device is ready to give you a more complete view of your location.

Change the view of your Stick Up Cam to a downward camera angle by:

  • Swiveling the base around so that the long side faces the front, then tilting your Stick Up Cam so it points downward.

Install Stick Up Cam on a wall

To set up your Stick Up Cam on a wall:

  1. Remove the base of the Stick Up Cam by unscrewing it using a standard Phillips-head screwdriver (not included).
  2. Re-attach the base to the back of your Stick Up Cam with the "UP" arrow on the bracket pointing upward.
  3. Remove the mounting bracket by sliding it down to remove it from the base.
  4. Hold the bracket against your wall,
    ensuring the UP arrow is pointing upward
    , and mount it with the included screws.
  5. Mount your camera by guiding the grooves in the base on the hooks on the bracket. Slide Stick Up Cam down to secure it to the wall.

You can now rotate your Stick Up Cam to the desired angle and check out the live video in the Ring app to make sure you have the view you want.

Optional installation processes

Install the Security Screws (optional)

Your Stick Up Cam comes with two optional security screw locations. One secures the mounting bracket to the base, and the other secures the battery compartment. You can access the security screws after mounting your Stick Up Cam by rotating it to either side.

To install the base screw:

  1. First, slide your Stick Up Cam off of the mounting bracket.
  2. Pop the rubber plug out of the base then place Stick Up Cam back on the bracket.
  3. Secure with one of the provided screws.

To install the battery compartment screw:

  1. Remove the battery compartment.
  2. Pop out the rubber plug.
  3. Replace the battery compartment on your Stick Up cam
  4. Secure with one of the provided screws.

Charge the Backup Battery (optional)

The Stick Up Cam, Plug-In can use a Quick Release Battery Pack as a power backup (sold separately). If you have purchased a backup battery, make sure it is fully charged by plugging it into a USB port using the provided orange cable or any other micro-USB cable you have handy. The battery is fully charged when just the green LED is lit. You only need one battery even though there are two slots in the Stick Up Cam base.

  1. Remove the battery cover on your Stick Up Cam by twisting it counter-clockwise to unlock.
  2. If the battery is already inserted, remove the battery.
  3. After charging, insert the battery into the bottom of your Stick Up Cam until it locks into place.

Your Ring videos in the cloud are stored temporarily, up to 180 days. ​Changing your video storage time will only affect videos that are recorded after you adjust your storage time setting. Check Ring Protect Subscription Plans for more information.
