Set up Motion Warning for compatible devices
Motion Warning is a voice announcement feature that can play when motion is detected on select doorbells and cameras (compatible device list below).
The message says:
Hi, you are currently being recorded.
How to turn Motion Warning on or off
Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.
Tap your device's Settings.
- Tap theSmart Responsestile.
- TapMotion Warning.
- TurnMotion Warningon or off.
- Motion Warning volume cannot be adjusted for any Ring device.
How to link Motion Warning with Camera Modes¹
To set Motion Warning to turn on or off automatically when your Ring devices are in Home, Away or Disarmed mode:
Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.
Tap your device's Settings.
- Tap the device you want to configure.
- TapMode Settings.
- Select theModeyou want to link with Motion Warning.
- Tap your device again.
- If you have a Ring Alarm, you may need to tap on Cameras, first.
- Under Motion Detection, toggleMotion Warningon or off as desired.
- Repeat this process for at least one more of the modes so that Motion Warning is toggled on for at least one mode and is toggled off for at least one mode.
Motion Warning requires a plug-in or hardwired power connection. This feature is not available on battery-powered Ring devices. Ring devices that are compatible for the Motion Warning feature are:

- Spotlight Cam (1st Gen) Wired and Mount
- Spotlight Cam Plus Wired and Plug-In
