Understanding Ring Protect subscriptions

Learn about our most advanced features for your Ring doorbells, cameras, and Alarm. An eligible Ring subscription gives you access to features like Video Search1 and the ability to review past motion events.2

A subscription is required to review recorded video on your cameras and doorbells. Without a subscription, you can view live video and respond to alerts as they happen.

Events are only recorded after you subscribe. Your motion event videos are stored in the cloud for up to 180 days from the recording date. If you change your storage duration, the new setting applies only to future recordings, not to past events. Past events might appear in your history, but you cannot view or recover them.
