General Information on Ring Protect Subscription Plans
The Ring Protect Plan is a subscription that gives you access to paid features for Ring devices such as video doorbells, cameras, Alarm, and Car Cam. With a Ring Protect Plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings¹ from your Ring devices to your Ring account.
Without a Ring Protect Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer general motion and doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don't get video recordings of those events.
Types of Ring Protect Plans
There are three Ring Protect Plans available for home devices, and one Ring Protect Plan for Car Cam.

Upgrading your Ring Protect Plan
A Ring Protect subscription may be purchased on a monthly or yearly basis.
If you have a Ring Protect subscription, you can upgrade or change your plan for any reason.

Once purchased, your subscription will automatically renew and continue until you choose to cancel it, which you can do for any reason from your account on Ring.com. Learn how to cancel.
Get a trial when you register a new device
Whenever you register a new device on your Ring app, you automatically start a Ring Protect trial⁴ (unless you’re already a subscriber at the same location of the new device). With this trial, you can try all Ring Protect plan features available for your device, including 10% off select Ring products on Ring.com (USA, Canada, UK, EU, Australia or New Zealand) and Amazon.com (US only).
During the Ring Protect trial period, you get video recording for your cameras and doorbells and professional monitoring for Ring Alarm. Video recordings are only stored for the duration of your trial, unless you subscribe to a Ring Protect plan. What devices qualify for the extended warranty in Plus and Pro?
Ring Protect Plus and Pro subscribers have access to an extended warranty from SquareTrade, an Allstate company. SquareTrade/Allstate terms are available here. Under the extended warranty terms, your Ring device may be eligible for replacement if it experiences electrical or mechanical failure during normal use.
Eligibility requirements
- You must have a subscription to Ring Protect Plus, Plus (1st Gen), or Pro, if the Ring device was under the 1-year manufacturer’s warranty period at the time you added the device to your Protect Plus/Pro Plan
- Your Ring Protect subscription must not have any lapse in coverage.
- Your Ring device is not currently covered under another warranty, insurance policy, or service contract.
- Devices were still under the manufacturer’s warranty at the time your eligible Ring Protect subscription was purchased.
- Non-Ring and third-party devices are not eligible for the extended warranty.
