Troubleshooting Ring Smart Lights Bridge

The Ring Bridge is the central point for connecting all Ring Smart Lighting products. It allows smart lighting control from anywhere using the Ring app and lets Ring Smart Lighting products interact with other Ring products for enhanced security.

Frequently asked questions

The reset button on the side of my Bridge isn't responding. What's wrong?

If you try to reset your device, be aware of the following time frames:

  • Holding the button down for one to five seconds:
     This should force the Bridge into setup mode.
  • Holding the button down for six to ten seconds:
    This is a factory reset. It will cause the device to forget any of the settings previously saved and will force you re-set up all the lights.

If the button doesn't turn red or force the device into Setup mode within five seconds, try unplugging and re-plugging the power cable. If the Bridge does not respond even after rebooting, please contact Customer Support for assistance.

The Bridge isn't lighting up after I plug it in. What's going on?

There are several possibilities. Check the following items:

  1. Wait another minute.
  2. Check the power supply from the power source to make sure your Bridge is receiving electricity.
  3. Make sure the Micro-USB cord is properly attached.

The Bridge isn't connecting to wifi. What's going on?

There are several possibilities. Check the following items:

  1. Log out of the Ring app and then re-open it.
  2. Check to make sure your Bridge is turned on.
  3. Check the power supply from the power source to make sure your Bridge is receiving electricity.
  4. Restart the router and run through the setup process again.
  5. Make sure you entered your wifi password correctly.

I'm moving and I want to take the Bridge with me and install it at a new location. What do I do?

When moving a Bridge to a new location:

  1. When you reach the new location, press the side button to put the Bridge into pairing mode.
  2. Run through the setup and installation process again.

A light is not communicating with other lights. What's going on?

  1. Make sure your light is properly set up in the Ring app.
  2. Make sure your lights are properly Grouped together.

  • Check barriers between the lights that may be preventing communication. If possible, try moving the lights closer together.

My Bridge shows as offline. What's going on?

There are several possibilities. Check the following items:

  1. Check to make sure your Bridge is turned on.
  2. Check the power supply from the power source to make sure your Bridge is receiving electricity..
  3. in the Ring app and make sure your Bridge is up to date.
  4. Power cycle the bridge by unplugging and re-plugging the power cable.
  5. Press the button on the side of the bridge for three seconds and add it to the Ring app again.
  6. Restart the router and run through the setup process again. Make sure you correctly enter your password.

The Bridge was online but then disconnected from wifi again. What's going on?

There are several possibilities. Check the following items:

  1. Check to make sure your Bridge is turned on.
  2. Check the power supply from the power source to make sure your Bridge is receiving electricity.
  3. Try unplugging and replugging your Bridge. It should reconnect automatically.
  4. Check your Firmware status on the Ring app and make sure your Bridge is up-to-date.
  5. Restart the router and run through the setup process again. Make sure you correctly enter your password.
  6. Try resetting your Bridge back to factory setting by pressing the Reset button on the side of the case for at least 15 seconds. Then run through the setup process again.

There's a crack in my Bridge case. What should I do?

Turn off your lights and disconnect your Bridge from the lights and your Ring app.
