Setting Up Ring Alarm Panic Button in the Ring App

Setting up your Ring Alarm Panic Button in the Ring app is simple. Scroll down for a step-by-step guide.

Before you begin:

If there is an update available for your Ring app, please update it before you begin. Remind any shared users to update their apps too. Updating the app ensures that everyone on your account will be able to see this new device.

Step One - Select Set Up a Device

Open the side menu by tapping the three parallel lines in the upper left-hand corner of the Ring app.

  • Tap
    Set Up a Device.
  • Tap
    Security Devices.
  • Tap
    Panic Buttons.
  • Tap
    Panic Button.
  • Tap
    Ready
    .

Step Two - Scan the QR Code on Your Device

  • Tap the
    Scan QR Code
    button.
  • Turn over the Panic Button.
  • Use your mobile device to scan the QR code on the back of your Panic Button.
  • If your mobile device is not scanning the QR code, you can enter the 5 digit PIN that is next to the QR code.

The QR code and PIN can also be found in the product packaging of your Panic Button.

Step Three - Pull Out the Clear Tab

When prompted, pull the clear tab from the back of the device. This turns the Panic Button on. Your Alarm or Alarm Pro Base Station should find the Button automatically.

Important: The Panic Button can trigger an alarm as soon as it is paired with your system. Treat the Panic Button with care to avoid false alarms as soon as you pull out the tab.

As the Button attempts to pair to your Alarm or Alarm Pro Base Station, the LED will blink. Once pairing is complete, the LED glows blue for three seconds.

Note: If the sensor does not pair successfully, the LED glows red. Try the pairing process again. Start by following the in-app instructions. When it’s time to pull the battery tab, simply remove and reinsert your battery to complete this process.

Step Four - Place the Panic Button

You can place your Panic Button just about anywhere inside of your home as long as it’s close enough to connect with your Base Station.

Note: Be sure to choose a location that it won't be triggered accidentally.

Step Five - Complete the Communication Test

Once you've placed the button, you will need to confirm it can still communicate with the Base Station.

To complete the communication test, follow these instructions:

  • Quickly tap the Setup button located on the side of the device. Don't worry, the test will not set off your Alarm.
  • If the LED blinks blue, the Panic Button is connected and ready to go.
  • If the LED blinks red, you can try the test again or try repositioning the sensor closer to the Base Station or using a
