Installing the Panic Button (1st Gen)

Choosing a placement or mounting location

Once your Panic Button is set up, place it in an area of your home or business where it is easily accessible during an emergency. When placing or mounting your Panic Button:

  • Place your Panic Button close enough to your Base Station to make sure it stays connected.
  • Place your Panic Button on a flat surface or mount it on a wall.
  • Keep your Panic Button out of reach of small children and pets.
  • Place or mount your Panic Button somewhere it won’t be triggered by accident.

Suggested locations for placing or mounting your Panic Button

  • On the nightstand in your bedroom
  • In the bathroom, in case there is a fall or medical emergency
  • In or near the kitchen to call for help in case of a fire-related emergency¹
  • In the room where you spend most of your time so police can assist
    1
in case of a break-in or other home security concern.

For police and medical emergencies only, if you want to use a Panic Button at a business location, keep it in an area where you might need extra security for you, your employees, and your equipment.

Communication test

Once you've placed the button, confirm it can communicate with the Base Station.

To complete the communication test, quickly tap the setup button located on the side of the device.

  • If the LED blinks blue, the Panic Button is connected and ready to go.
  • If the LED blinks red, you can try the test again or try repositioning the sensor closer to the Base Station, or
    to strengthen communication.

How to mount your Panic Button

Using the double-sided tape:

  1. Clean the mounting location.
  2. Peel the liners on both sides to expose the adhesive tape.
  3. Press the Panic Button firmly to the mounting location and hold for 20 seconds to make sure the tape is secure.

Using the mounting bracket, anchors, and screws:

  1. Twist the bottom cover counterclockwise so that the unlock symbol is aligned with the indicator. Pull to separate, then set the Panic Button aside.
  2. If installing on drywall, drill pilot holes in the mounting surface using a 3/16” (5 mm) drill bit. Insert the wall anchors.
  3. Position the back cover over the anchors, and screw it into place.
  4. Place the Panic Button onto the back cover, and twist clockwise so that the lock symbol is aligned with the indicator.
