Set up Ring In with the Setup Wizard (for property managers)
As a property manager, learn how to set up Ring In at your property in the Amazon Key Property Management Portal using the setup wizard.
To begin:
- Log in to the Amazon Key Property Management Portal and select the Property where you want to set up Ring In.
- ClickSetup Ring Inand follow the instructions.
Useful terminology:
- Property: A location comprised of one or more Places.
- Place: A building or group of homes or an area within a Property that has its own individual Entrance(s).
- Entrance: A door or gate that controls access to a Place or to the Property.
- Key: A virtual key your staff and residents can use to access specific Entrances with Ring In.
- User: Any person (resident or staff) who can access Ring In-enabled Entrances at your property using the Key(s) assigned to them.
Step 1: Create Keys
Note: Under Property Keys, you will see a Default All Access Key. This Key allows Users access to all Ring In-enabled Entrances at your Property. Only assign this Key to Users that should be able to access to all Entrances of your property.
To create new Keys for specific Entrances only:
- ClickCreate.
- Enter aKey Name.
- (Optional) Enter aKey Description(for example, “Staff Key” or “Building A Resident Key”).
- Go to theEntrancestab and select all the Entrances this Key can open.
- For example: If your Property has multiple Places (such as Building A and Building B), and each one has a separate Entrance, you can create a Key for each one by selecting the Entrance for that Place.
- ClickAdd Key.
- After adding a new Key, it will appear underProperty Keyson the previous screen.
- To make changes to a Key, select that Key and tapEdit.
- To create another Key, repeat steps 2 to 5.
- When you've finished adding Keys to the Amazon Key Property Management Portal, clickNext.
Step 2: Add Users
- Select the Place where you want to add Users.
- ClickDownload Template.
- A CSV file will be automatically downloaded to your computer. Add the email address, unit number, and expiry date of the Ring In User(s).
- Only add Users who need access to this particular Place.
- If you are adding a staff member, please enter “NA” or similar in theresident_aptnumberfield.
- If you are adding a staff member and do not have an expiry date for them, enter any date less than 2 years from the date of uploading the staff member’s information.
- Savethe file on your computer.
- ClickUpload CSVto upload the list of Users to the Amazon Key Property Management Portal.
- ClickChoose Fileand select the file you just saved to your computer.
- ClickUploadto upload the file to the Amazon Key Property Management Portal.
- To upload another User list for a different Place at your property, repeat steps 1 to 7.
- After you finish uploading your User lists to the Amazon Key Property Management Portal, clickNextto start assigning Keys.
Step 3: Manage Users and Keys
Assign Keys to Users and edit User details.
Note: Adding a User to the Amazon Key Property Management Portal will give them the ability to access the Entrances of your property with Ring In.
Remember to delete a User’s information from the Amazon Key Property Management Portal when they no longer require access to your property.
To assign Keys to an individual User:
- Select theUseryou want to assign a Key to and clickEdit.
- Select the Key(s) you want the User to have access to.
- Note: If the User needs access to all the Places and Entrances in your Property, selectDefault All Access Key.
- ClickSave Changes.
- ClickFinishto complete your Ring In setup.
To assign Keys to multiple Users:
- Click on theFilter Usersbar.
- ClickPlaceand select the relevant Place.
- Select the top tick box next toEmailto assign Keys toall Usersin that Placeorselect individual email addresses to assign a Key tospecific Usersin that Place.
- Note: Each email address you select will be assigned the same Key or Keys.
- ClickEdit.
- Select the Key(s) you want the User to have access to.
- ClickSave Changes.
- ClickFinishto complete your Ring In setup.
How to add more Users and assign Keys
If you’d like to create Keys, add more Users and assign them Keys later, you can do this by logging in to the Amazon Key Property Management Portal.
