Managing Ring Alarm Users and Roles
Decide who has access to your Ring Alarm by setting up Shared and Guest User access in the Ring app. Choose whether Users have limited access to your system’s functionality or if they have comprehensive access to your system and connected devices.
A User is anyone who has any level of access to the system at a Location. Each User will be assigned a User Type, which determines how much access they have to Ring devices and features. The User who sets up the system will automatically become the Owner. An Owner can invite users to the system to become Shared Users or Alarm Guest Users.
- Owner:In addition to being able to view cameras and view and share videos, the Owner can also add new Users, adjust system settings, change account information, and grant access to Shared Users. If you have a Ring Alarm, the Owner can also change monitoring settings and arm and disarm the Ring Alarm System.¹
- Shared User:A Shared User cannot change system settings or account information but can view cameras and view and share videos. Access to particular cameras can be granted or taken away by the Owner. If you have a Ring Alarm system, the Shared User can also arm and disarm¹ the Ring Alarm system and unlock any lock they've been given access to by the Owner.
- Alarm Guest User:Alarm Guest Users do not have app access. If you have a Ring Alarm, they can arm and disarm using the Keypad. If you also have an integrated Z-Wave lock, you can give Alarm Guest Users the option to lock and unlock your smart lock. If you link your Z-Wave smart lock to your Ring Alarm, Alarm Guest Users can both unlock and disarm any lock they've been granted access.
Ring Alarm has a limit of 256 access codes. This includes Owner, Shared User, Alarm Guest User, and Duress Codes.
