Managing permissions for users

As a Ring account owner, you can assign permissions to your shared users at each location, giving you more control over device access and what they can do, including choosing specific devices to share. No subscription is required to add shared users and Alarm Guest Users.

Manage permission levels in the Ring app to:

  • Delegate access to employees, family, and friends
  • Grant temporary access to configure or set up Ring devices
  • Control who can view, change, or manage devices

You can assign one of three permission levels for family, friends, and employees: Limited, Standard, or Advanced. Existing shared users will automatically be reassigned to the Standard level and will retain their existing device access. To change an existing Standard user's permission level, you may need to remove them and send them a new invite.

The Professional installer level lets you provide access to someone to set up, configure, or troubleshoot devices. The installer's access will automatically be removed after 48 hours unless you manually remove it sooner.
