Active Warnings

Active Warnings is an AI feature that delivers automated, real-time verbal warnings through your Ring camera when a person is detected on your property. Active Warnings is powered by Alexa Guard, and available with Ring AI Pro, Virtual Security Guard, and AI Solo subscriptions.1

Things to Know

  • Active Warnings cannot be used with Alexa+ Greetings or on devices with end-to-end encryption enabled
  • This feature is unavailable to customers in Illinois due to state-specific legislation

Active Warnings and Virtual Security Guard

Active Warnings works seamlessly with Virtual Security Guard2 to help deter activity sooner, activating while live professionals review what's happening. When a person is detected, Active Warnings will deliver an automated verbal warning first, then an agent will review the activity and escalate if needed. Active Warnings will follow any existing Snooze and pause settings for those devices, as well as Watch Zones.

Important note: For Virtual Security Guard subscribers, agents have the ability to override automated warnings.

Enable Active Warnings

  1. Open the Ring app.
  2. Tap the menu (☰).

  3. Tap
    AI Features.
  4. Tap
    Active Warnings
    .
  5. Toggle the switch on.

Manage device settings

You can access Active Warnings settings in the Ring app from:

  • AI features
    in the main menu.
  • Smart Responses in the
    Device Settings.
  • Modes and Automation in
    Monitoring Settings.

Recommended Mode Settings and configuration

To prevent unnecessary warnings, we recommend starting with these Modes Settings and customizing them based on your needs.

  • Disarmed:
    all cameras off.
  • Home:
    outdoor cameras on, indoor cameras off.
  • Away:
    all cameras on.

To adjust your Mode Settings:

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
  2. Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.
  3. Tap your device's Settings.
  4. Tap
    Mode Settings
    .
  5. Select a mode,
    Home
    ,
    Away
    , or
    Disarmed
    .
  6. Choose which cameras should deliver Active Warnings in that mode.
  7. Tap
    Save
    .

Check to see if your device is eligible to use Active Warnings. Active Warnings will also be rolling out to other devices soon.
