Arming or Disarming Ring Alarm with your Smart Lock

Ring’s Smart Lock Integration has the ability to arm or disarm your Ring Alarm straight from your Ring-compatible Z-Wave smart lock when you are subscribed to a compatible Ring subscription.¹ After you install and set up the integration, you can lock and unlock your doors through the Ring app. You can also arm and disarm your Ring Alarm by locking or unlocking your door using your compatible smart lock. Important note: Smart lock integrations are currently only available in the United States and Canada.

Before you begin

Setting up your smart lock to arm or disarm your Ring Alarm

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

  2. Tap the Alarm tile under Devices.

  3. Tap Connected Devices.

  4. Select your smart lock.
  5. Tap
    Mode Settings

    1. You can arm your Ring Alarm by locking your smart lock using the access code you created in the Ring app:
      • Tap
        Away Mode.
      • Toggle on
        Lock with Access Code
        or
        Lock with One Touch
        (as applicable).
    2. You can disarm your Ring Alarm by unlocking your smart lock using the access code you created in the Ring app:
      • Tap
        Disarmed.
      • Toggle on
        Unlocking will disarm

  6. If there is a pop-up, read it and tap
    Got It
    .
  7. Tap
    Save
    in the upper right corner.

Test the disarming function by arming the system and unlocking the lock using the four-digit access code. Then test the arming function by disarming the system and locking the lock using the four-digit access code.

Troubleshooting tips

Try these tips if your lock is not arming or disarming your Ring Alarm:

  • Make sure you’re using the correct four-digit code you set up in the Ring app.
  • Try resetting the access code and attempting the test again.

Monitoring smart lock activity

Your device history shows when a code was used to lock or unlock the door and arm or disarm the system.¹ It also shows which lock was used. The Ring app sends notifications when:

  • The disarm code is used to open the lock and disarm the system.
  • Someone attempts to tamper with the lock.
  • The lock malfunctions.
  • The lock jams.
  • The feature is offline.
