Fixing connection issues between Smoke & CO Listener and the Ring Alarm Base Station
When your Smoke & CO Listener disconnects frequently:
- Move the device closer to the Base Station.
- Reset the device by removing and reinserting the battery.
Fixing detection issues with Smoke & CO Listener and your smoke/CO alarm
Your Smoke and CO Listener relies on the sound waves from your smoke/CO detector. For smoke detector issues, contact the manufacturer. For proper sound detection:
- Mount the Listener 3-6 inches away from your existing smoke/CO alarm.³
- Point the arrow on the Listener toward your smoke/CO alarm.
- Check that your smoke/CO detector is 10 years old or less and complies with all applicable standards.²
Factory resetting your Smoke & CO Listener
Try a factory reset if your device has a good connection, you’ve installed a new battery, and issues still persist. To factory reset the Smoke & CO Listener:
- Press and hold the setup button for 10 seconds.
- Wait for the LED to stop blinking.
- Add the device back using the Ring app..

To remove the Smoke & CO Listener from your Ring Alarm system:
- Remove the batteries from the Ring Alarm device.
- Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
- Tap theBase Stationtile under Devices.
- TapConnected Devices.
- Tap theSmoke/CO Listenerto be removed.
- Tap theDevice Settingstile.
- TapRemove Device.
- Confirm device removal by tappingRemoveon the next screen.
- TapGot it.
