Use Your Alarm Pro As a Wifi Extender with Your Existing eero Network

If you have an existing eero network,¹ you can opt to use your Alarm Pro Base Station as an extender. With 24/7 Backup Internet², a feature that requires a compatible Ring subscription, your Alarm Pro will become a backup option for using the internet in case of an outage while also keeping your Ring Alarm online and actively helping to protect your property.

How to Set Up Your Alarm Pro As a Secondary Router

Instead of plugging your Alarm Pro directly into your modem (or modem/router combo device) as the eero app suggests by default, plug your Alarm Pro into an open ethernet port on your router. You can keep using your existing wifi network and the devices connected to it as before. You may need to add a network switch to set up the Alarm Pro as a secondary router.

Using Your Alarm Pro As a Bridge for Ring Smart Lighting

The Alarm Pro Base Station can be used as a bridge (or hub) for Ring Smart Lighting devices. This includes motion sensors and spotlights. When you’re setting up a Ring Smart Lighting device in the app, you’ll have the option to connect it to your Alarm Pro Base Station as a bridge.

A bridge is the central connection point for all of your Ring Smart Lighting devices. It allows you to enable smart lighting control from anywhere using the Ring app. Your Ring Smart Lighting devices can also interact with other Ring devices for enhanced security.
