Setting Up Flo by Moen in the Ring App

The Flo Smart Water Valve helps avoid costly water damage to your home by running daily health tests of your home plumbing. In emergencies, it will automatically shut your water off. Available for use in the US only.

How to set up your Flo by Moen in the Ring app

First, use the in-box instructions to complete product setup. Tap for more information on installation. 

When your Flo setup has been completed using the Flo by Moen app, follow these instructions to add your Flo by Moen Smart Water Valve to the Ring app:

  1. Open the
    Ring app
    .
  2. Tap the
    menu
    (≡)
    on the left side of your Dashboard.
  3. Tap
    Devices.
  4. Tap
    Set up a Device.
  5. Scroll down and tap
    Smart Water Valves.
  6. On the “Add Flo to your Shortcuts” screen, tap
    Begin Setup.
  7. Follow the steps to link your Amazon and Ring accounts.
  8. Follow the steps to link your Amazon and Flo by Moen accounts.

When you finish this step, you’ll have a new Flo tile on your Ring app dashboard. Using this tile, you can see your device status and have the option of turning the valve on or off.

If wifi set up fails:

If your Smart Water Shutoff is not responding to app commands:

  • Check that the status light on the Smart Water Shutoff is green.
  • If the light is red, Flo may be offline and will need to be reconnected.
  • You can add a wifi extender if the distance is too far, or there is too much interference.

Tap if your device is offline.

How to remove Smart Water Shutoff from the Ring app:

  1. Tap the
    menu
    (≡)
    on the left side of your Dashboard.
  2. Select the
    Location
    where the device is installed. 
  3. Select the device you will be replacing.
  4. Select
    Device Settings
     at the top right of the app.
  5. Swipe to the bottom of "Device Settings" and select the
    Unlink Device
     button.

The following devices are compatible:

  • iOS: 12 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
  • Android: 4.4 or later. 
  • Make sure you have the latest firmware version for your phone or tablet.

Learning Mode

Learning mode takes 7-10 days for the system to learn household water habits. You can’t skip learning mode. The system is in Sleep Mode during this time. Tap to learn more about learning mode.

What is the difference between Home, Away, and Sleep Mode?

  • Home Mode
    is recommended for daily use.
  • Away Mode
    is designed for when you’re going to be away for a few days or longer. 
  • Sleep Mode
    ignores all proactive and real-time tests, parameters, and quiets all alarm notifications, effectively putting the Flo System to sleep.

Does the Smart Water Shutoff shut down automatically?

If the Smart Water Shutoff detects unusual water use or plumbing issues, it may automatically shut off the water based on mode settings and your responses to Flo by Moen app alerts. Tap to learn more. 

What if my Smart Water Shutoff is lost or stolen?

Check to make sure that your main water is shut off and immediately install the Flo Spacer to get running water back into your home. Tap to learn more.

Will I still have water if the power goes out?
