Managing permissions for users
Ring account owners will begin seeing new permissions for their shared users that can be assigned at the location level, giving you more control over who can access your devices and what they can do. Account owners will have the flexibility to grant access to a location and choose specific devices they want to share.
No subscription is required.
Recent Changes:
We’ve added a new way for Ring customers to manage permissions in the Ring app, making it easier to:
- Delegate access to employees, family, and friends
- Grant temporary access to configure or set up Ring devices
- Control who can view, change, or manage devices
Ring owners can assign one of three permission levels: [Limited, Standard, or Advanced]. At launch, existing Shared Users will automatically be reassigned to the Standard level and will retain their existing device access.
A separate Installer user type will be available to customers who needs someone to setup, configure, or troubleshoot devices. See the table below for permission levels and capabilities. The Installer user type’s access will automatically be removed after 48-hours unless you remove it sooner.
