Adding and managing Shared and Guest Users

Ring account owners can share access to their devices without sharing passwords.

Adding, removing or editing a Shared User

Only Ring account owners can add, edit, or remove Shared Users.

Note: Ring owners cannot share Chime, Chime Pro or Ring Alarm Sensors.

To add, remove or edit the access of a Shared User:

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

2. Tap the

   three dots (…)

   in the upper right corner of the camera tile or tap the

   Alarm Base Station

   tile.
3. Tap

   [Device Name] Settings

   .
4. Tap the

   Shared Access

   tile.
5. To add a Shared User, tap

   Add User

   .
6. Select which type of user you would like to add and follow the in-app prompts.
7. Tap

   Send Invite

   .
8. The recipient will get an email notification valid for 7 days.
9. To remove a Shared User or edit the devices they can access, select the Shared User you want to remove.
   • To remove the user, select

     Remove User

     , then tap

     Save

     .
   • To edit access to specific devices, toggle on or off the select device(s), then tap

     Save

     .

Accepting a Shared User invitation

You will receive an email invitation from Ring to become a Shared User on an account. The invitation is valid for seven days. Shared Users must create their own Ring account to accept a Shared User invitation and gain access to your devices.

To accept a Shared User invitation:

1. Open the Shared User email from Ring and tap

   Manage Access

   .
2. Sign in to your Ring account, or

   create a new account.

3. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

4. Tap the menu (☰).
5. Tap

   Control Centre

   .
6. Tap

   Shared Users

   .
7. Under Locations (Shared), tap

   Manage

   next to the pending invitation.
8. Tap

   Accept

   or

   Decline

   the invitation.

Note: It might take up to 15 minutes for Shared access to show in your Ring app.

Adding, removing or editing a Guest User

Guest Users can only be added to accounts with a Ring Alarm. Guest Users can arm and disarm the Alarm system and lock and unlock connected locks by entering their assigned access code.

To add a Guest User:

1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
2. Tap the

   Alarm Base Station

   tile.
3. Tap

   [Device Name] Settings

   .
4. Tap the

   Shared Access

   tile.
5. Tap

   Add User

   .
6. Tap

   Add an Alarm guest user

   .
7. Type in the Guest User Name.
8. Tap

   Create Access Code

   .
9. Tap

   Done

   .
10. Tap

    Add Guest User

    .

To remove a Guest User or edit the devices they can access, select the Alarm Guest User you want to remove.

• To remove the user, tap

  Remove User

  , then tap

  Remove

• To edit access to specific devices, toggle on or off the select device(s), then tap

  Save

Note: You can add up to 256 access codes at one location.
