Adjusting the Video Recording Length on Battery Powered Devices
In the Ring app, you can control when your Ring camera or doorbell stops recording after motion is detected.
This feature requires a compatible Ring Home subscription.
For battery-powered devices, shorter recordings generally mean longer battery life. Wired devices receive a constant supply of power, so you can choose any recording length without impacting battery life.
Adjusting your Ring device's recording length
If your device supports adjustable video recording lengths, you'll find the setting in the Ring app:
- Open the Ring app and tap on theMenu(≡).
- TapDevices.
- Tap on the device you wish to adjust.
- TapDevice Settings.
- TapVideo Settings.
- TapRecording Length.
- TapRecord For.
- When the list appears, you can select a preferred recording length such as:
- 15 seconds
- 20 seconds
- 25 seconds
- 30 seconds
- 60 seconds
- 90 seconds
- 120 seconds.
- You may get a warning that your choice will affect your battery life. Remember, you can always make a selection and change it to a shorter time if you feel your battery is draining too fast.
Each device has its own individual video recording length setting and can be set to a personalized recording length at any time.
