Learn About Video Pre-Roll
With Pre-Roll, select Ring devices can begin recording video, without sound, a few seconds prior to motion detection. If you have a Ring Plan, the Pre-Roll is attached to the event clip. Pre-Roll can be used without a subscription but nothing is recorded.
When you're using Live View, Pre-Roll is shown as a picture-in-picture. If you tap on the Pre-Roll picture-in-picture, the screen expands and Live View appears as the smaller image.
Pre-Roll works in well-illuminated areas. Low light conditions may affect the Pre-Roll functionality at night.
Pre-Roll is enabled by default in the Ring app, but can be toggled on and off in Video Settings.
