Using Amazon Key for in-garage delivery with the Ring app
Amazon Key helps you get packages in your garage safely. You can use the Ring app to set up alerts that tell you when your package is coming and when it's almost at your house.
Requirements
To use Amazon Key In-Garage Delivery, you need to meet the below requirements:
- An Amazon Prime account.
- The latest version of the Ring app installed on your smartphone or tablet.
- A Ring account at a location with a zip code that supports Amazon In-Garage Deliveries.
- A compatible garage door opener.
- Optional:Use a compatible Ring security camera to record In-Garage Deliveries.
How it works
When Amazon Key In-Garage Delivery happens, you'll get alerts on your phone. The Amazon driver will use a special device to open your garage, put your package inside, and close the door. Amazon makes sure it's safe, and you'll know when it's all done.
How to set up
To set up Amazon Key for In-Garage Deliveries, follow the below steps in the Ring app:
- Add your garage door opener to the Ring app:
Tap the menu (☰).
- SelectSet Up a Device.
- Follow the in-app prompts to complete setup.
- TapAdd Key Ship Optionin the Ring app.
- Sign in to your Amazon Prime account.
- Select the device for Key Delivery, and follow the in-app prompts to complete setup.
- Configure Amazon Key In-Garage Delivery
- In the Amazon address book, select the delivery address.
- TapContinue.
- Choose the garage door for Amazon Key deliveries.
Customize your settings
To customize your Amazon Key In-Garage Delivery settings, follow the below steps in the Ring app:
Tap the menu (☰).
- TapKey Delivery.
- TapGarage Door.
- Tap the gear icon on the top right.
- Toggle onDelivery Alertsfor days when you are expecting orders to arrive.
- TapDelivery Settingsto customize In-Garage Deliveries.
- To record deliveries, tapLink Camera, and select the camera you want to record.
- EnableLive Viewfor that camera.
- EnableOffline Deliveryto allow In-Garage Delivery, even when your camera loses its wifi connection.
- SaveSettings.
Troubleshooting
If delivery events are not being recorded, your Ring camera may be offline, or you might need to adjust settings in the Ring app. If your Ring camera is offline, follow the steps in the Ring app to reconnect it.
Check Live View
Confirm that Live View is enabled for Video Settings and all Mode Settings in the Ring app. To enable Live View for Video Settings, follow these steps:
Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.
Tap the Device Settings tile.
- SelectVideo Settings.
- Toggle onLive View.
Check Mode Settings
To enable Live View for Mode Settings, follow these steps in the Ring app:
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Settings.
- SelectModes and Automations.
- TapModesand select your current mode (Disarmed, Home, or Away).
- TapCamerasand select your device.
- UnderPrivacy Settings, ensure theLive Viewtoggle is on.
Check Privacy Settings
Check for unintended Privacy Zones where your packages are being delivered. To edit and confirm Privacy Zones, follow these steps in the Ring app:
Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.
- SelectSettingsfor that device to get to the device’s page.
- Tap theDevice Settingstile.
- SelectPrivacy Settings.
- If you have Privacy Zones enabled, tapEdit Privacy Zones.
- Select the Privacy Zone you want to edit or delete.
- To delete: Tap the trash icon.
- To edit: Move the points to reset your privacy boundary.
- TapDone.
