Self-monitoring

Self-monitoring is when you monitor the Ring Alarm yourself with or without a Ring subscription:

With a Ring subscription

(If you have email notifications turned on, it may send an email as well.) You and your Shared Users can call emergency services if there is a genuine emergency like a fire, break-in, or another emergency at the location.

Compatible Ring subscription required for digital arming/disarming and certain other in-app features.

Without a subscription

You can also self-monitor your Alarm without a Ring subscription. You can arm or disarm your Alarm from the Ring Keypad only. If your Ring Alarm is triggered, it’s siren will sound, but you and your Shared Users will not receive digital notifications2 and emergency response will not be requested.1
