Z-wave water shut-off valves can be used to shut off your main water supply from the Ring app. When a water leak, freezing temperature or both are detected at your location by your Ring Flood & Freeze Sensor, you can have Auto Close (Ring Protect Basic subscription required) close the valve for you, giving you peace of mind whether you’re at home or you’re away. Troubleshooting Works With Ring Water Shut-Off Valves

It is possible that your water shut-off valve may enter into an unknown state, which may interrupt its ability to shut off your water supply. This sometimes happens if the valve is stopped while opening or closing. To return your water shut-off valve to a normal state:

  • Check that the device is powered on.
  • Press the physical button on the Z-wave water shut-off valve to open or close it.
  • If the above options don’t work, remove your water shut-off valve using the Ring app. Then factory reset your device, following the manufacturer instructions, and re-add it to the Ring app.
