Battery in Ring device won't stay charged

If you’re finding that your Ring battery-powered device isn’t charging, there are a few things you can do to try to improve the situation.

Before anything else, check the battery charge reading in your Ring app:

Check your battery charge percentage in the Ring app

  1. Open the
    Ring app
    .
  2. Tap the
    menu (≡)
    on the top left.
  3. Tap

  4. Tap
    Device Health.

      Power
      .

Learn how to charge your device's battery.

Note: It can take a 5 to 10 hours to fully charge a Ring battery depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a USB port or a wall outlet.

Once you’ve charged your battery, check it again in the app. Regardless of the other things in this article you try, you’ll still want to make sure to start with 100% charge.

Ring Video Doorbells and Security Cameras with removable batteries

If your device has a removable battery and your Ring app battery percentage doesn’t change after charging it, make sure that you’ve placed the battery back into the device until it clicks into place. Once the battery is reinstalled, the new charge percentage will register in the Ring app under Device Health.

If your device says Offline under Network Signal Strength, that means it needs to be reconnected to your wifi. Even if your battery is charged, your doorbell or camera won’t work unless it’s connected to wifi. If you tap on “reconnect your Wifi Network” and enter your wifi password you can get reconnected.

Hardwiring your Video Doorbell

If you can, you might want to try hardwiring your doorbell. Like the Solar Charger though, hardwiring only powers the battery through a trickle charge. If the battery is worn out, the device may need to be replaced.
