Arming and disarming your Ring Alarm, Video Doorbell and Security Camera with Alexa

How to arm and disarm your Ring Alarm with Alexa

First, open the Alexa app and enable the Ring Alexa skill.

If you're new to Alexa, install the Alexa app on your mobile device first.

1. Check if your device is already set up.
2. Tap

   Try Discovery Again

   .
3. Ask, "

   Alexa, discover my devices

   "
4. Choose the option to get help connecting or contact customer service.
5. Tap

   Skills & Games

   on the main menu.
6. On the next screen, search for Ring in the search box. After you've found it, tap

   Enable

   .
7. Next, Alexa will ask you to sign into your Ring account. This will link your Ring account to your Alexa account.
8. After you sign in, Alexa will look for devices to connect. All of your Ring devices should appear and connect to Alexa automatically. If you don't want a particular device to connect, tap

   Forget

   .
9. Your device should now appear as

   Ring

    in the Alexa app.

Next, set a passcode with which to disarm your device.

1. In the Alexa app, tap

   Devices

   and then

   All Devices

   to view the list of your devices.
2. Select the device that you want to arm and disarm using your voice.
3. Under

   Settings

   , toggle on

   Disarm by Voice

   .
4. You will be prompted to setup a

   4-digit passcode.

After your passcode is set up, try the following commands.

• Once your Ring account is linked to Alexa, arm the Alarm by saying: “

  Alexa, arm Ring.

  ”
• Once armed, Alexa will respond with: “

  Ring is armed in home/away mode.

  ”
• To check the status of your Alarm, say: “

  Alexa, is Ring armed?

  ”
• To disarm your Ring Alarm, say: “

  Alexa, disarm Ring.

  ” Alexa will then ask for your four-digit voice code. Once that's said, your Ring Alarm will disarm.

How to arm Ring Alarm using an Alexa Routine

1. Open the Alexa app on your mobile device.
2. Tap

   More

   in the bottom right corner.
3. Tap

   Routines

   , then tap the plus sign in the top right corner to create a

   New Routine.
4. On the next screen, tap

   Enter Routine Name.
5. Type out a new

   Routine Name

   (example: "

   Arm Ring Alarm

   ") and then tap

   Next

   .
6. Tap

   When This Happens

   and then tap

   Voice.
7. Type out the phrase you’d like to use (example: "

   Alexa, goodnight

   "), and then tap

   Next

   .
8. Tap

   Action

   in the top right corner, then tap

   Add Action.
9. Tap

   Guard

   and then tap

   Next

10. Test the routine by tapping the

    play button icon

    next to the routine name, or try using the

    Alexa phrase

    you chose for the routine (example:

    "

    Alexa, goodnight

    ”).

• Arming or disarming the Alarm will be registered as an event in the History screen in your Ring and Alexa apps.

How to arm and disarm your Video Doorbells or Security Cameras with Alexa

First, enable Mode Settings for your Ring Video Doorbell or Security Camera.

1. Open your Ring app.
2. Tap the

5. Scroll down and tap

  " to change the Mode for your doorbell or camera. When disarming, you must say your voice passcode.

  Alexa, I'm leaving

  " or "

  Alexa, I'm home

  ".
