Installation guide for Solar Panel for Ring Video Doorbells

Physically installing your Solar Panel for Doorbells and connecting it to your Video Doorbell is a simple process. Scroll down for a step-by-step guide.

Note: You should complete the setup of your Ring Video Doorbell in your Ring app before installing the Solar Panel.

1. Select your install location for your Solar Panel

When selecting your installation spot for the Solar Panel, be sure to choose a spot that gets reliable Sun exposure every day. The Solar Panel can extend your Ring Video Doorbell battery life with just a few hours of direct sunlight per day.

2. Line up your Solar Panel

To properly line up your Solar Panel:

  • Use the Solar Panel’s mounting arm as a template.
  • Mark the screw holes on your chosen surface with a pencil.

3. Drill holes (optional)

Optional: Use a drill to drill holes where you marked the position of the mounting holes.

  • If you are mounting the Solar Panel on brick, concrete, or stucco, put the included plastic anchors into the holes. You may need to use a hammer to get the anchors in.
  • If you are mounting the bracket on wood or vinyl, just use the included screws.

4. Put up the mounting arm

  • Secure the mounting arm to the wall with the included screws.
  • Tighten until snug.

5. Put up the Solar Panel

Slide the Solar Panel onto the mounting arm. Make sure it's seated securely.

Note: If you'd like to adjust the angle of the solar panel for better sun coverage, loosen the adjustment screw on the mounting arm, set your desired angle, then re-tighten the screw.

Note: The following steps are for the fork connector version of Solar Panel for Battery Video Doorbell Pro, Battery Video Doorbell Plus, Video Doorbell 2, Video Doorbell 3, Video Doorbell 3 Plus and Video Doorbell 4.

6. Attach your Video Doorbell to the wire spacer and connect the Solar Panel plug to your doorbell

  • Take the free end of the fork connector cable and pass through the wire spacer
  • Use the screwdriver to secure fork connector cable on the terminal of your doorbell

7. Attach the doorbell and wire spacer to the wall

To properly line up your doorbell:

  • Place the doorbell next to your door about 1.2 metres from the ground.
  • Level the device using the level tool.
  • Mark the positions for mounting holes with a pencil.

Optional: Use a drill to drill holes where you marked the position of the mounting holes.

  • If you are mounting the doorbell on brick, concrete or stucco, put the included plastic anchors into the holes. You may need to use a hammer to get the anchors in.

Note: The following steps are for the micro-USB version of Solar Panel for the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation).

6. Attach the Solar Panel plug to wire spacer and Video Doorbell mounting bracket

  • Take the free end of the charging cable and place it on top of the mounting bracket with the plug piece in the centre of the rectangle bracket.

7. Attach the wire spacer and Video Doorbell mounting bracket to the wall

To properly line up your doorbell:

  • Place the doorbell next to your door about 1.2 metres from the ground.
  • Level the device using the level tool.
  • Mark the positions for mounting holes with a pencil.

Optional: Use a drill to drill holes where you marked the position of the mounting holes.

  • If you are mounting the doorbell on brick, concrete or stucco, put the included plastic anchors into the holes. You may need to use a hammer to get the anchors in.

8. Plug in the Video Doorbell and attach to bracket.

  • Plug the free end of the charging cable into the back of the doorbell and click into place.
