Understanding Dual Power Mode

Learn how to use Dual Power Mode to switch between wired and battery operation to optimise the performance of your Security Camera.

Dual Power Mode is available for:

Automated Dual Power Mode

Automated Dual Power Mode is turned on by default for all hardwired devices, and plug-in devices with a Quick Release Battery Pack inserted. If your device loses power, or the power connection is weak or unstable, your device will automatically switch from Wired Mode to Battery Mode.

If there is no battery in your plug-in device and it experiences weak or unstable power, it will switch to Low Power Mode and default to using the battery settings as if it were inserted. This ensures that you will continue to have access to all your device’s features.

Note: Ring devices with Dual Power Mode only automatically switch from Wired Mode to Battery Mode. You can manually control Dual Power Mode from your Device Settings in the Ring app.
