Frequently Asked Questions
We have a lot of cloudy weather where I am located, would the solar panel be a good fit for my doorbell?
If your installation area is frequently very cloudy, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your Ring Solar Panel receives. Ring Solar Panel does require direct sunlight, so filtered/indirect sunlight through the clouds would not provide a charge to your doorbell.
How many hours of direct sunlight are needed to charge my device?
Ring recommends at least 3-4 hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. You will want to make sure there are no obstructions that could be casting a shadow on your Ring Solar Panel such as an extended roof, trees, bushes, etc.
Can I connect my Solar Panel to my existing mechanical or digital chime?
No, you cannot connect Ring Solar Panel to your existing mechanical or digital chime.
1. Ability to recharge varies based on device settings, motion notifications and sun exposure in the area of placement.
