Troubleshoot a Ring device battery draining too fast

Learn what can cause your Ring device battery to require more frequent charging and troubleshoot battery life issues.

Batteries in Ring devices are designed to go months between charges under normal conditions. However, real battery life is dependent on a number of factors such as local weather, number of events captured, and frequency of activation.

The local weather

At temperatures below 5°C, lithium polymer batteries are less effective at holding a charge. Since Ring devices use lithium polymer batteries, when the temperature drops below 5°C, it may be necessary to charge your battery more often.

Battery performance will return to normal once the weather warms up and remains above freezing.

To prevent excessive activity, under Motion Settings for your device in the Ring app you can:

You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
