Installing Solar Panel for Battery Doorbells

Solar panel installation

1. Choose a location for your solar panel.

NOTE: Ensure your solar panel is under direct sunlight and positioned within 19.5 ft (6 m) of your doorbell.

If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, direct your solar panel toward the south.

2. Use the mounting arm as a guide to mark screw holes on a smooth, flat mounting surface.

3. Install the mounting arm.

On stucco, brick, or concrete, use a ¼ in (6 mm) masonry bit to drill holes for the included wall anchors.

4. Slide your solar panel onto the mounting arm, ensuring it is securely attached.

5. Loosen the ring to adjust your solar panel’s position, then tighten to lock in place.

NOTE: For best results, your solar panel should face the sun at a 45º angle.

6. Wrap the power cable around the cable holder and clip it into one of the cable stops, leaving enough length to reach your doorbell.

Doorbell installation

1. If you have a previously mounted doorbell, remove the mounting bracket.

2a. Use the included doorbell spacer to mark screw holes on the wall.

2b. (Optional) If using a wedge or corner kit, install a wedge or corner kit with its included screws and route the power cable through the center hole.

On stucco, brick, or concrete, use a ¼ in (6 mm) masonry bit to drill holes for the included wall anchors.

3. Feed the power cable through the doorbell spacer, then secure it in place with the clips on the back.

NOTE: Ensure the cable can reach your doorbell before securing.

4. Install the doorbell spacer with the included screws.

5. Install your doorbell’s mounting bracket.

6. Plug the USB-C connector into the back of your doorbell, ensuring it is fully inserted. If your doorbell does not have a USB-C port, remove the USB-C adapter to access the fork connector. Then, secure it to your doorbell’s wire terminals by loosening and tightening the screws.

NOTE: Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen) can charge using solar power only through the USB-C port. Connecting the Solar Charger for Battery Doorbells to your Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen) AC fork connector may result in damage to your Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen).

CAUTION! USB-C connector is only for use with Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen). DO NOT plug into AC outlets or incompatible devices or ports. Doing so may result in damage.

7. Mount your doorbell by hooking it over the bracket.

NOTE: Gently tuck the USB-C cable or doorbell wiring into the mounting bracket, ensuring everything is securely connected.

8. Use the cable clips to secure the power cable in place.

9. Refer to your doorbell setup guide to secure your doorbell and complete setup.
